What are the Respond Pants?
The Respond Pants are lightweight and packable synthetic insulated trousers that boost warmth when belaying or pit-stopping for lunch in cold environments. With an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio, they maintain great thermal performance, even when wet.
Despite their mountain intentions, the Respond Pants offer versatile static insulation ideal for various adventures such as bikepacking and fastpacking; you can wear them instead of a sleeping bag for ultralight wild camping. They even work well for working from home on cold days, so you don’t need to pop the heating on.
What are they made from?
Insulation - Montane has used 60g of Primaloft® Silver synthetic insulation for reliable warmth without the bulk. Primaloft Silver is made from 100% recycled polyester and is developed using a proprietary process where plastic bottle chips are remade into high-performance fibres. Clever, right? It provides effective, sustainable performance without compromising the regular qualities of synthetic insulation.
Outer - Pertex® Quantum Eco 30D fabric surrounds the insulation; made from fully recycled nylon with a PFC-Free DWR (durable water repellent) coating. Pertex® Quantum fabrics are created from tightly woven fibres that are designed to trap still air, helping to warm the trouser’s insulation and maintain its efficiency whilst creating a light, protective barrier from the elements.
Lining - The inner fabric is a PEAQ 20D nylon lining that is supremely comfortable next to the skin and is highly breathable. It is also 100% recycled, meaning that the Respond Pants have some impressive eco-credentials, perfect for more sustainably focused adventurers.
The Respond Pants outer and lining fabrics are treated with a PFC-Free DWR (durable water repellent) to encourage rain and snow to bead off the material without the use of forever chemicals that cause damage to the environment. This DWR treatment makes the trousers highly water resistant, but please note that it doesn't make them fully waterproof.
What are their features?
An elasticated low-bulk waistband provides a secure and comfortable fit to the trousers, whilst an elasticated drawcord adjuster to the front allows you to dial in the fit, giving you peace of mind that your trousers won’t slip down mid-way through a steep climb. The elastication on the hips also gives flexibility on fit if you are slightly between sizes.
The knees are articulated, providing a little extra room in vital areas for a natural range of movement, making those steep ascents feel that little bit easier.
Quarter-length zips to the outside hem of the trousers make it easier to take them on and off when wearing bulky boots. They also help to reduce dirt transfer to the inside of the trousers when slipping them on part way through your day.
Press stud adjusters at the bottom of the legs allow you to create a snug fit over different footwear types and stop excess material from flapping around in high winds.
