What are the Minimus Nano Pants?
They're updated ultra-light waterproof trousers designed for various fast-paced adventures when minimal weight and pack size are essential. They weigh just 100g and offer superb breathability to keep you comfortable and protected, whether trail running in the mountains, ultra running or urban running in wet weather.
This updated version of the Minimus Nano Pants now utilises Montane's innovative Petrichor waterproof technology for reliable protection with supercharged breathability.
What are they made from?
The trousers are made from a super-thin 20D 2.5-layer Petrichor material, for maximum waterproof protection with minimal weight and pack size. Although these trousers are thin, don't be fooled. They feature a Hydrostatic Head rating of 15,000mm, which is excellent for such a lightweight material, alongside a fantastic breathability rating of 40,000g/m2/24hrs MVTR. Making them exceptionally well-suited to fast-paced adventures, when you'll likely be working up a sweat.
Petrichor is Montane's proprietary waterproof membrane, which does things a little differently compared to traditional waterproof fabrics. The membrane is a solid, non-porous, hydrophilic membrane that actively breathes to physically transport moisture away from the body and damp layers, pulling it out into the air where it can escape. It utilises channels within the material to pull moisture through the membrane to continuously manage your microclimate, keeping you comfortably dry all day long. An effect that increases in strength as you work harder - the tougher the trail gets, the more breathable the trousers become. This innovative design delivers supercharged breathability and allows this super-thin solid membrane to be not only waterproof but windproof too.
The trousers are finished with a non-fluorocarbon DWR (durable water repellent) coating to encourage water, dirt and snow to bead off the material, further enhancing the trousers' protective capabilities.
What are their features?
The Minimus Nano Pants have a streamlined design to help keep weight and bulk to a minimum, making them a highly packable, super-lightweight option for wet weather protection.
They feature an elasticated waistband that's flat at the front for minimal bulk. It feels comfy, flexible and is easy to slip on over running shoes.
They feature Montane's Active Fit, which is close-fitting for fast-paced adventures, whilst the articulated knees ensure you have plenty of space around the joints for wider strides and various dynamic movements.
On each side of the leg, you'll find a 1/4-length ankle zip, which is handy for getting the trousers over more bulky shoes or for quickly dumping some heat along the trail.
Montane has used a clever offset seam construction throughout the trousers to enhance comfort levels and provide added durability across the seams. The minimal seams are fully taped for maximum weather protection.
Finally, the Minimus Nano Pants come with their own cube stuff sack, making them an ideal backup option to stuff into a trail running vest or rucksack when the weather is unpredictable.
