What are the Ascendor Light Pants?
The Ascendor Light Pants are a lightweight, durable pair of trousers crafted from a Matrix™ double-weave fabric, optimised for comfort on challenging ascents with wind, abrasion and weather protection.
What are they made of?
Rab has constructed these trousers using their specialised Matrix™ double weave stretch fabric, durable enough to withstand rocky terrain whilst being light and flexible enough to allow for freedom of movement.
What are their features?
The comfortable part elasticated waistband is nice and flat so it can sit smoothly next to the skin, wicking away excess moisture while allowing for extra breathing room and improved mobility due to its stretchy nature.
A double snap waist closure with a YKK® zip fly firmly secures the trousers. Meanwhile, the breathable, moisture wicking Matrix™ fabric helps you regulate your temperature and reduce sweat build up by allowing air to pass through easily; as well as providing a high UPF protection on those sunny routes.
Two zipped, mesh-lined hand pockets are great for keeping small trail essentials like snacks or lip balm close at hand, or opening up to increase ventilation. A zippered rear pocket provides extra space for when you don’t want your phone, or other valuables getting in the way mid-climb.
The diamond shaped gusset at the crotch takes the stress off the centre seam. An essential detail if you're stretching and moving around a lot on the rockface, as nobody wants split trousers!
Knee articulation allows dynamic movement of the legs, often required during strenuous outdoor activities such as alpine climbing or scrambling. All of that is finished off nicely with a reinforced back hem and twin needle topstitching on critical seams giving the pants extra support when being pushed to the limits.
How do they fit?
These trousers are classed as a regular fit, meaning they will hang slightly looser on the frame. For those who don’t want anything too close-fitting in warmer weather, or anything too baggy that may get in the way.
Where do they fit in the layering system?
The Ascendor Light Pants are best used as a durable, breathable, outer layer in warmer climates as they are sturdy enough to take a scraping, but light enough to prevent that hot, sticky feeling when the sun is out.
