What are the Zanskar GTX Pants?
Zanskar is well known for its unique Chadar Trek route, aka the Frozen River Trek. Coincidentally, Rab's Zanskar GTX Pants are the perfect trousers for tackling frozen escapades, whether that's a cold mountain hike or mid-winter scramble. Heck, you could even take them to Zanskar itself!
What are they made of?
Constructed with 70D recycled 3L Gore-Tex®, this jacket is robust enough to withstand abrasion against rocks whilst offering exceptional waterproof protection.
Gore-Tex® is renowned for its reliability in wet conditions, alongside being lightweight, breathable and comfortable. It's perfect for keeping dry during long adventures across snowy terrain, where your bottom half could undoubtedly end up a little moist...
Recycled three layer Gore-Tex® is super low bulk, allowing improved freedom of movement and reduced weight without compromising overall performance.
What are the features?
The waistband has a deep cut with a soft tricot lining that feels super smooth next to the skin. Belt loops and brace attachment points are added to offer various options to optimise the fit whilst suiting your own personal preference.
If you're not a belt or brace kinda guy, no problem! There's also a dual sided hook and loop adjustment system that sits across the waist, which also helps to minimise bulk rather than adding the extra accessories. This adjustment system is perfect when you need to quickly adapt your trousers to suit your activity, say for better freedom of movement on a steep ascent, or just when you've had a little too much to eat in camp.
The front fly is fastened with a YKK® AquaGuard zip which is easy to use and, thanks to the laminated zip taping, provides more water resistant protection than a regular zip.
The same goes for the pocket fastenings - YKK® AquaGuard zips help your belongings stay dry when they're tucked away. There are two external front pockets placed on the sides, alongside one thigh pocket which is perfect for storing hill-snacks, energy gels or a GPS device without them getting in your way.
At the sides, 7/8th two way YKK® AquaGuard zips allow full ventilation or space when you need to put on your big mountain boots. Both zips have an internal stormguard, so even when left open, minimal weather will seep in. Triple pullers give plenty of options to zip and are super easy to use with numb fingers or chunky mitts.
Knee articulation provides better manoeuvrability around the knee joints, as more fabric is cut in the area to give you more space to move around. This is really beneficial in the mountains where terrain and incline constantly change. They feel much more natural and comfy in diverse environments.
Hems feature snap adjustments to allow you to secure the trousers around various footwear types. There are also reinforced crampon patches around the lower hem and inner ankle. These patches are designed to resist snagging from crampons as you walk, improving the overall durability of the trousers. You can wear them again and again in extreme conditions without ditching them after a couple of uses. Great for you, your wallet and the planet too!
How do they fit?
Rab has categorised the Zanskar GTX Pants as a 'regular fit'. This means that they have a little more room for improved freedom of movement and allow space to add extra layers underneath in colder climates.
