Where do I start? Okay try this for me, imagine a day sack that has all the functions and features you would need for a day trip in the back country doing a bit of ski mountaineering. After that you give it a test and get some feedback from a team of professional end users. Now using that feedback you refine your first idea and hopefully if you have done it properly you should end up with something that looks like the picture above. If you haven’t then take note, because this pack is perfect!
It’s made form 2 super burly fabrics, of which the main body is made from a high tenacity, 420 denier nylon that resists abrasion; for example if you take a tumble. Then the moisture prone areas use a 400 denier, urethane coated (for moisture resistance) ripstop nylon that is super durable and is even cut resistant, making it perfect for protection against wet sharp skis.
The Dual P’ax ice axe holders can be operated with one had for quick tool removal, mounting straps synch skis in tight to the pack in an A-frame configuration for a more stable feel when lugging them around on you back. There are also straps for splitboard/snowboard/diagonal ski carrying that can also be used to secure ski poles.
The front pocket has been specifically fitted with shovel handle, blade and probe pockets with still enough space for skins. The diagonal opening of the front flap reduces the risk of your equipment spilling out in to the snow; which is always handy, and there is a drainage hole to allow water shedding for when you have to stow your used wet skins. The floating lid can be completely removed and harbours enough room for goggles, keys and food (or spare warm layers).
The back system is light, rigid and most importantly comfortable, and because of the lean profile design the pack load is situated close to the body for great stability. The M-bar stays distribute the weight evenly but can also be removed if you want a bit more flexibility.
Just buy it, you definitely won’t regret it.
