Designed for expedition use the Downmat XP 9 Medium offers all the comfort and insulation of a large deep mat in a compact and lightweight package. Filled with 250g of 700 fillpower top quality goose down to provide insulation comfort down to -38°C. The internal I beam baffle construction keeps the down in place preventing cold spots and provides stability on uneven ground.
Inflation is via the flat valves using the included Schnozzel bag. Basically this is a lightweight waterproof compression sack with a hose (hence the name) that attaches to the mat. You simply attach the hose to the valve, fill the bag with air, roll it closed and then compress the air into the mat. This is far quicker and easier than inflating by mouth and has the added advantage of not introducing moisture to the filling which could then freeze and become useless. The Schnozzel bag also doubles up as a compression stuff sack for your sleeping bag.
The outer fabric of this fantastic mat has next to the skin comfort and effective honeycomb slip resistance, so you dont slide off in the night and get cold. The inside of this fabric is treated with Exped's own laminate which is airtight and impervious to degradation.
A sleeping bag is only as good as the mat it lies on, once you get in your sleeping bag you compress all the insulation thats underneath you, rendering it practically useless. Therefore it is essential to have a good insulating mat to protect you from the cold ground.

Two loops at the head end can be used to secure the packsack to the mat when used as a pillow.
Exped only uses IDFL-certified goose down, specially treated to eliminate the effects of humidity that may reach the mat‘s interior.
