What are the Bergtagen Stretch Trousers?
They're robust mountain trousers which are versatile and comfy enough for a variety of activities, whether mountaineering, climbing, scrambling or even ski touring abroad! As you may have guessed, these trousers have a four-way stretch within the material that offers maximum freedom of movement for steep or technical ascents and great durability to withstand rugged terrain.
What are they made of?
These trousers comprise a blend of polyamide and four-way stretch elastane, which gives them durability and flexibility.
The outer layer is Cordura nylon, whilst inside is recycled nylon that can wick away moisture and feels much smoother against the skin.
Polyamide (nylon) is super robust yet lightweight, giving you a great balance of weight and strength to survive long days in rugged environments. It offers a good level of wind resistance and even a brief shower.
The outer is treated with PFC-free DWR (durable water repellent), which encourages light rain or snow to bead off instead of soaking in without using harmful 'forever' chemicals.
What are their features?
As mentioned, these trousers have a minimal feature set to keep weight and bulk low and reduce the risk of catching or snagging in complex terrain.
Two hand pockets and two leg pockets give you secure storage for small essentials like trail snacks, energy gels, a mobile phone or a compass. Each pocket is secured with a zip fastening and is lined with mesh inside, which doubles up nicely as ventilation when you're working hard.
At the end of each leg, you'll find zipped gussets that give you some extra space for accommodating chunky mountain footwear and ski touring boots.
Elastic at the back of the waist improves comfort and gives you extra mobility where you need it, preventing the waistband from feeling tight or restrictive.
