The Kamet 65:75 is a cavernous trekking pack with copious amounts of cool features. To start with it is made out of the lightweight yet durable N6.6 Mini Rip (a nylon fabric with ripstop qualities) and it has plenty of compression straps to reduce the volume. This holds the contents of your pack secure so you are more stable on your feet by stopping the contents from sloshing about and throwing you off balance when moving over undulating terrain.
The main feature if this pack is its Axiom4 Back System. This system is so quick and easy, you actually adjust it while the pack is on your back, therefore making sure you get the correct fit. Firstly make sure the top shoulder tensioning straps and that the lower shoulder straps are both loosened off. Next get the hip belt in position and tighten, keeping the buckle as central as possible. Once this is done you can adjust the back length in 4 easy steps.
-
Pull down on the black loop on the right and hold it there. (This unlocks the back system)
-
Pull on the Grey loop on the left hand side. (This will shorten the back length and bring the shoulder strap anchor points into place)
-
Let go of both loops. (This locks everything in position)
-
Finally Adjust the webbing shoulder straps as you would normally using the bottom and then the top tensioning straps.
Simple.
The Axiojm4 system also features a luxurious, ergonomically moulded back panel with strategically placed air channels for extra comfort and breathability.
If you find you are getting localised muscle fatigue you can adjust it on the move. Just lean forward and follow steps 1 to 4 again. Then when you need to return to a more upright position you can readjust to suit. How cool is that?
Well it's about to get even cooler! The Kamet has been fitted with a suitcase style front opening so getting to the contents your pack is a breeze. This means you don't have to bother with the faff of emptying your pack from the top to get to the items you know are at the bottom. Happy days.
Other features include large storage pockets on the hip belt for snacks, phones and other handy things. You get 2 generously sized stretch mesh pockets on each side that give you the option to internally route the compression straps, that way the use of the pockets aren't impeded when is comes to stashing your maps and water bottles. There are walking pole tip grippers and and ice axe loops to cater for different end uses, as well as the versatile Spider Plate configured bungee straps, which can be adjusted for fastening different loads onto the outer of your pack.
The floating lid construction and extra 10 litre gusset allows you to transform this pack from a 65 litre pack to a 75 litre behemoth with minimal effort. The lid itself has external and internal zipper pockets for those all the things you like to keep close to hand. Now finally like most Lowe Alpine packs you will find an integrated raincover in its own stash pocket on the underneath of the pack to protect you bag against sudden or forecast downpours.
