What is the Aconcagua?
The Aconcagua Light is the ideal midlayer for high-output activities in cold conditions. Use it for mountaineering, climbing, ski touring and more.
What is it made of?
It's made using a mixture of nylon, polyester and spandex. Each material has its own job within the baselayer: nylon adds durability, polyester provides warmth and spandex adds vital stretch. The three materials combined create a midlayer that's warm, breathable, moisture-wicking and quick-drying.
As if that wasn't enough, Mammut have added an antimicrobial, chemical-free treatment to this fabric to reduce the build-up of nasty smells during use. This not only means you won't offend your campmates if you're out for a few days, but makes it marginally more environmentally friendly as you won't need to wash it quite as often.
What are its features?
All seams within the Aconcagua flat to avoid unnecessary chafing, while a snug-fitting hood adds further warmth and will fit underneath a helmet. Some handy thumb loops keep your hands snug when not wearing gloves. Storage-wise, you've got two zipped front pockets that sit high enough to avoid rucksack hipbelts or climbing harnesses.
How does it fit?
It features Mammut's 'athletic' fit, so it sits snug next to skin to maximise performance.
