What are the Zinal Guide Pants? These are probably the only trousers you'll ever need for year-round trekking and hiking. In the winter, they're weather-resistant and tough enough to deal with some pretty nasty conditions, then in the summer, the ventilated openings make them breathable enough when the temperature climbs.
What are they made of?They're made using a simple yet bombproof mix of nylon and spandex. The nylon provides exceptional durability and weather-resistance, while the spandex adds essential stretch and comfort. A PFC-free DWR (durable water repellent) allows water to simply bead up and roll off the surface of the trouser. It's worth pointing out that this does not make the trousers waterproof; you'll still need a good'ol fashioned pair of overtrousers for that.
To increase weather-resistance and durability even further, Mammut have reinforced the seat and knees, areas which will typically face the most abrasion and moisture.
What are the features?Starting with storage, there are two hand pockets, one of which has an additional small zipped coin pocket inside, a rear zipped pocket and a zipped leg pocket with an integrated mesh smartphone pocket inside. Mesh-lined side zips let you dump heat in warmer conditions and an adjustable leg width gives you the option to wear a varied selection of footwear. Finally, you've got some useful belt loops.
How do they fit? They feature a fairly average fit with a tapered leg. When we say 'average', there's enough room underneath for an additional layer and the fabric is more than stretchy enough to accommodate various leg sizes.
