The Defendor Pants are quite possibly one of the best mountaineering trousers available. The trousers use three fabrics in total; the main fabric used is a two-layer Matrix softshell fabric which offers a high amount of wind and water resistance, durability to last years of abuse and enough warmth to accompany you on cold mountainous ascents. This fabric is also super stretchy, making them ideal for climbing, scrambling and walking in too. The second fabric used is a 3-layer Matrix fabric which is even thicker, more durable and more water resistant; this is used on the seat and lower leg. The last fabric is a nylon reinforcement on the instep to deal with crampon strikes and rock abrasion. All of this is backed up by a soft fleece inner to provide comfort and warmth on even the frostiest mornings.
Obviously warmth isn't everything, eventually you'll have to cool off; Rab have equipped the Defendor's with two large zipped vents on the thighs to quickly dump heat and to allow cool air to pass through. These vents have been designed in such a way that as you bend your leg, warm air is pushed out and cooler air can make its way in - clever right?
Pockets wise, you've got two hand pockets and one thigh pocket with an internal phone sleeve. Other useful features include loops to attach braces (not included), grip tape on the lower leg to stick to the upper of your boots, an integrated belt, gussets to open the lower leg out for larger mountaineering boots and articulated knees for overall mobility and comfort.
Featuring just about every feature you could possibly ever need in a pair of winter trousers, the Defendor's are equipped to deal with the worst the mountains have to throw at you.
