What is the Vapor Helmet?
Weighing just 155g, the Vapor Helmet is a super lightweight, versatile helmet designed for rock climbing and alpinism. It's incredibly versatile, well-ventilated and reliable, providing ample protection for exposed or technical routes.
What is it made of?
Shell: The helmet's shell comprises lightweight yet durable polycarbonate, approximately 250 times stronger than glass. It's virtually indestructible, providing reliable protection against impact from tumbling rocks, debris and general falls when climbing a tricky route.
Foam: A foam structure may sound a little ominous, but the blend of EPP, EPS and ALUULA is incredibly reliable and provides extensive protection by absorbing impact without weighing you down.
Too many acronyms? Here's a quick breakdown.
EPP (Expanded Polypropylene) is a versatile, closed-cell foam that can absorb energy and impact incredibly well and has a high strength-to-weight ratio.
EPS stands for Expanded Polystyrene. It's a lightweight cellular plastic with properties similar to EPP. EPS is strong and durable, again offering high levels of impact protection alongside thermal insulation and moisture resistance to help prevent rot. EPS is environmentally safe and recyclable, making it slightly more friendly to the planet than regular plastic foam.
ALUULA is a composite material that provides abrasion resistance and UV stability without the weight and bulk of conventional materials. The use of ALUULA in the Vapor Helmet acts as a penetration shield and replaces the previous Kevlar® Aramid to enhance performance and protection at a fraction of the weight.
