What are the Ultimate III Mid GTX?
The big brother to Mammut's Ultimate III Low GTX, these mid-height shoes still provide the same reliable waterproof protection and comfort for long days on the hill. They're highly durable and versatile enough to be worn for various outdoor activities, or even those closer to home, whether hiking, hill walking or taking the dog for a stroll in your local woodland.
What are they made of?
The Ultimate III's have a non-sew Schoeller® softshell TPU upper, which takes away the bulk and weight of stitching yet is still robust enough to take on bumps and scrapes of outdoor activities and lifestyles. TPU is known for its strength and flexibility, giving you out-of-the-box comfort and freedom of movement for tackling steep inclines and declines. The suppleness of the material also makes it great for wider feet.
Naturally, it has a high weather resistance, which is reinforced with the Gore-Tex® Extended Comfort lining. Gore-Tex® Extended Comfort technology provides waterproof breathability, performing best in moderate to warm conditions or high-intensity activity where you need efficient temperature regulation. Although, this doesn't mean you can't wear them during winter. Extended Comfort technology prioritises permeability. It prevents water from seeping inside the shoe yet will allow sweat vapour to escape for moisture and temperature control.
A Michelin® rubber compound Trail Cleat sole, made with recycled rubber, has a blend of two-different softnesses and deep lugs to give you plenty of grip on soft and wet ground.
What are their features?
These shoes use the patented Rolling Concept®, which helps the foot roll off the ground more naturally in a rocking motion, putting a bit of spring in your step! This design added to the cushioning foam makes it an ideal all-rounder for technical terrain.
They have a mid-height ankle that offers a little extra support and stability without feeling restrictive or digging in as you flex the joint.
The standard lacing system is quick and easy to use, as long as you know how to tie your laces, of course. If you'd like to know the tips and tricks of lacing your shoes or boots to prevent them from coming undone halfway along your route, check out our YouTube guide by clicking here.
In terms of sustainability, these boots are made in compliance with Fair Wear standards. Fair Wear is a non-profit organisation that ensures safe and fair working conditions for factory workers by working directly with factories, trade unions, NGOs and governments to protect workers' rights.
