What is the Protium XPD Hoody?
This hoody is the perfect all-round option. What is it made of?
Montane has constructed the Protium XPD Hoody using 69% recycled Polartec® Thermal Pro® High Loft in the main body, and stretchy Thermo Grid brushed back fleece on the side panels and under the arms.
Polartec® Thermal Pro® High Loft is a performance fleece that offers a fantastic level of warmth without carrying excessive weight and bulk. Thermal Pro® is highly durable, fast drying and pill-resistant, so even after heavy use, it doesn't look shabby and worn - it's a fleece that will last a lifetime!
Polartec® High Loft™ technology uses a patented high loft fibre structure that creates a super soft, ultra compressible material. Extended polyester yarns create large air pockets within the construction to help retain extra heat without adding weight to the fabric. High Loft™ has the highest warmth to weight ratio of all fleece technologies in the Polartec® range.
What are its features?
The combination of fleece used in this hoodie provides exceptional thermal regulation in cold temperatures, ideal for exploring exposed mountain routes during the winter. Wear this hoody as a midlayer with a down jacket and/or shell over the top (depending on conditions) or during the autumn when it's dry as a toasty outer layer. Heck, it's so comfy you could even wear it to lounge around at home!
Thanks to its lightweight, low bulk design, you can fit the hood under a helmet easily for maximum warmth when climbing and scrambling.
The fastening at the front of the hoody is a full length, YKK® zip which is easy to use and could even be unzipped midway for extra ventilation during intense activity.
There are two hand pockets fastened with zips for storage. These pockets have plenty of room for hill-snacks, keys, a purse or headphones. They also make a perfect hand warmer on cold days when you've forgotten your gloves! Alternatively, a zipped chest pocket might be easier to stow away items that you want to keep easily accessible, such as a mobile phone or GPS, especially when wearing a jacket over the top.
A low profile hem, cuffs and seams help reduce the bulk of the construction, feel much nicer against the skin and also give the hoody a neat, tidy finish.
