What is the Xenair Alpine Light?
A lightweight version of the Xenair Alpine, this jacket combines technical insulation with breathable fabric, helping to improve balance in body temperature. It's an ideal jacket for everyday use, hiking and scrambling or layering up on a more challenging expedition.
What is it made of?
The outer shell is crafted using 20D Pertex Quantum Air Nylon with DWR (durable water resistant) to protect from light rain and showers, and lined with 20D Recycled Nylon. Multiple weights of Primaloft Gold Insulation Active+, with 55% recycled content, insulate the jacket. Due to its unique fibre structure, the insulation within the Xenair Alpine Light combined with breathable linings, creating a permeable layer to help improve moisture management and temperature control.
What are the features?
Body mapped insulation maintains heat and aids thermoregulation, great for keeping warm in winter or facing a chilling breeze up in the hills during a weekend trek. The helmet compatible hood has a semi-elasticated opening, with a single lightweight rear gathering to adjust the hood further - ideal as a light layer when hitting the rocks or simply for shielding your face from the wet weather during your commute to work. The No5 YKK® centre zip creates a smoothly running, secure fastening, with a lined chin guard for a cosy fit.
The harness friendly, packaway chest pocket with a zip fastening is ideal for keeping small belongings, like your keys, wallet or phone, safe when out and about. Two concealed zipped hand pockets are great for keeping your mitts toasty or storing additional items such as snacks, a GPS, or headphones.
Articulated sleeves allow extra mobility and movement, which benefit during faster-paced activities, whilst an elasticated gusset sits on the cuff, helping to improve fit and comfort around the wrists. At the bottom of the jacket is a lightweight single-sided rear hem adjustment with an anti-snag tether, great for sealing out sudden gusts of wind!
How does it fit?
The Xenair Alpine Light comes under Rab's regular fit bracket, meaning it sits slightly looser on the frame, ideal for layering up underneath if you need to.
Where does it fit in the layering system?
This versatile jacket can be used as a lightweight outer layer for casual strolls or everyday use. You can also use the Xenair Alpine Light as an insulating midlayer underneath a waterproof shell coat for better protection when wet.
