What is the Duality Lite Jacket?

It's a lightweight, super-warm, waterproof and windproof coat that is the solution to all your winter needs, both on and off the mountain. This trusty all-in-one jacket uses a combination of reliable Gore-Tex and Primaloft® Silver synthetic insulation for dependable warmth without the bulk.

It offers a high-performance, versatile solution for mountain adventures during changeable weather conditions. It is also great for everyday use, commuting, walking the dog and standing on the side of the pitch watching your kids play rugby in the pouring rain.

What is it made from?

Insulation - At the heart of the jacket, Montane has used 60g of Primaloft® Silver synthetic insulation for reliable warmth without the bulk. Primaloft Silver is made from 100% recycled polyester and is developed using a proprietary process where plastic bottle chips are remade into high-performance fibres. Clever, right? It provides effective, sustainable performance without compromising the regular qualities of synthetic insulation.

Synthetic insulation performs much better in damp conditions than down because it absorbs less water than down, doesn't lose its loft and dries out much quicker if you get caught in a sudden downpour. So, if you're thinking of heading on a multi-day adventure somewhere it's likely to rain (e.g. Anywhere in the UK), a synthetic jacket might be a more sensible option.

Outer - Protecting the insulation is tough and breathable 40D two-layer Gore-Tex. One of the most reliable waterproof technologies on the market, it comes with the classic 'Guaranteed To Keep You Dry' promise; it provides fantastic waterproof and windproof protection. It's also highly breathable, helping to keep your body temperature regulated whilst allowing sweat to escape, preventing moisture build-up, stopping you from feeling clammy or damp, even during intense mountain activities. The 40D outer is the ideal thickness to balance breathability and flexibility whilst still retaining enough durability to withstand a life of rugged adventure in the mountains.

Lining - The inner fabric of the Duality is a PEAQ 20D nylon lining that is supremely comfortable next to the skin and is highly breathable. It is also 100% recycled, meaning that the Duality Lite has some impressive eco-credentials, perfect for more sustainably focused adventurers.

The jacket is treated with a PFC-Free DWR (durable water repellent) to encourage rain and snow to bead off the material without the use of forever chemicals that cause damage to the environment.

What are its features?

Starting at the top, a fully adjustable hood provides excellent protection from the elements, whilst a stiffened peak to the top, improves visibility in poor conditions by helping to keep rain, wind and snow out of your eyes.

If you don't require the hood, it can easily be rolled away and neatly secured to prevent it from flapping in high winds.

Articulated sleeves offer better freedom of movement for the arms and shoulders, so you can reach higher on technical manoeuvres without fabric riding up and skin being exposed to the cold.

The Duality Lite features a two-way YKK Aquaguard zip closure with an internal storm flap to help keep the weather out. The zip can be undone from the bottom up, allowing you to access a climbing harness underneath or get some extra ventilation around your midsection.

For storage, two hand pockets offer a safe place to stow away gloves, snacks and energy gels. These pockets are also fastened with YKK Aquaguard® Vislon zips to ensure waterproof protection along each opening. For more valuable items like a mobile phone or GPS device, there's a zipped chest pocket on the inside of the jacket to give you peace of mind that you won't lose them in the mountains.

The Duality Lite features an adjustable hem with a drawcord and velcro cuffs to further seal the elements and minimise heat loss.
