What is the Muztag GTX Jacket?
The Muztag is a serious mountain jacket for those out in virtually all conditions. Whether you're alpine climbing, winter mountaineering or heading out for a multi-day trek, the Muztag is one of the most versatile in Rab's range and will tackle virtually anything you can throw at it.
What is it made of?
Membrane: The Muztag features a Gore-Tex Pro Most Breathable membrane throughout. As the name suggests, this is the most breathable variant of Gore's 'Pro' membrane, ensuring you stay dry from the inside as well as the outside.
Outer fabric(s): Rab use two fabrics for the outer of the Muztag; a 30D nylon and a 40D nylon. The lighter 30D is used throughout the body to maximise breathability and flexibility, while the 40D is used in areas prone to abuse such as the shoulders and hood.
What are the features?
Starting at the top, you've got a three-way adjustable helmet-compatible hood with a wired and laminated peak. The three points of adjustment allows you to get the fit just right, whether you're wearing a helmet or not, while the wired and laminated peak keeps rain and snow out of your face during technical ascents. If you're not planning to use the hood, it features a tab so you can tuck it away. Moving down, there are two napoleon pockets to store the majority of your kit and pitzips under the arms to dump excess heat. Internal zipped and mesh pockets store more valuable items such as a phone or keys. Lastly, the hem and cuffs are adjustable to seal out the elements.
How does it fit?
The Muztag features a long, tapered fit, however, there's loads of room in the shoulders and hood for reaching above your head. For reference on length, the centre back length measures 80cm.
