What is the Zanskar GTX?

This is a reliable waterproof jacket constructed with recycled Gore-Tex® fabric to keep you dry and protected from the elements during the winter. It's perfect for those new to all sorts of winter mountain adventures, such as hiking and scrambling, who need something more technical to keep up with the challenge.

What is it made of?

Constructed with 70D recycled 3L Gore-Tex®, this jacket is robust enough to withstand abrasion against rocks whilst offering exceptional waterproof protection.

Gore-Tex® is renowned for its reliability in wet conditions, alongside being lightweight and comfortable, optimising breathability to help keep your body temperature balanced. Three layer Gore-Tex® is super low bulk, allowing improved freedom of movement and reduced weight. Being recycled doesn't impact this fabric's fantastic quality and functionality, so it's a brilliant option for those who want something a little more sustainable without compromising on performance.

Gore-Tex® Pro seam taping is used on the inside of the jacket to ensure that no water can seep inside through the stitching. The seam tape lines each seam without adding a lot of bulk or weight - it's unnoticeable once you put the jacket on but makes a huge difference to how protective it is in wet weather!

What are its features?

Whilst offering maximum protection against the elements, the Zanskar GTX also has an array of functional features that are guaranteed to make your trip that little bit easier.

The jacket's hood has a two way adjustment, allowing you to draw it in around the head for a snug fit, optimising the protection it gives and helping keep nasty rainwater out. The adjusters have internal concealed cordlocks, which don't only neaten up the overall look, but are so easy to navigate that you won't even need to use both hands! A wired, stiffened peak is built into the hood, which gives the hood more structure at the top to help maintain its shape under the weight of the rain. When it's not in use, simply roll the hood away to stop it from flapping in the wind.

The jacket uses a centre front zip entry with a lower snap fastener for extra security, or ventilation if you're getting a little too warm. A fleece lined chin guard sits at the top of the zip, which feels super smooth and soft against the skin.

The sleeves are articulated, meaning they are cut with more room under the arm. This helps stop the sleeve from riding up when the arm is fully extended. Articulated sleeves provide improved freedom of movement and arm lift - perfect for tackling technical climbs or steep scrambles. The cuffs are extended to provide more shelter for the hands, and they have a simple hook and loop adjustment system to adapt the fit around gloves or mitts.

It can be easy to start working up a sweat during intense, technical ascents, even in cold weather. Two-way fully venting pit zips underneath the arms allow you to embrace that cool breeze and get some extra ventilation if you're working up a sweat. They are secured with YKK® AquaGuard zips and haptic pullers. The pullers are easy to get hold of, so you won't need to take the jacket off just to undo them. AquaGuard zips are taped zips that help enhance water resistance around the entry point.

The Zanskar GTX has a three pocket configuration on the exterior. The napoleon chest pocket is perfect for keeping a GPS system or compass safe within reach. Two roomy hand pockets can carry plenty of snacks if you like a feast, or a big pair of gloves if it's a little nippy. An extra, internal zipped pocket offers additional space for valuables you might want to keep closer to you, such as keys, a mobile phone or some emergency cash.

Dual-sided rear hem adjusters allow you to cinch in the jacket further to keep the wind out. The adjusters are mitt-friendly, so you won't need to faff around taking your gloves off to use them.

How does it fit?

The Zanskar GTX is built with a regular fit, offering a little extra space without feeling too baggy or oversized. This helps to improve freedom of movement and allows you to build an effective layering system underneath in colder weather, without having excess fabric getting in your way.
