What is the Aether Pro 70?
It's a high-performance backpack designed for multi-day activities in rugged environments. Whether you're a backpacker, mountaineer or mountain guide, it offers incredible comfort and support with a higher capacity to accommodate a larger load of kit.
What is it made of?
Osprey has used UHMWPE NANOFLY 210D Nylon x 200D to create the backpack's main body - it offers the ideal combination of durability with lesser weight than standard nylon materials, helping to reduce bulk and load for those counting the grams.
Accents comprise 315HD Nylon Oxford, which, again, is incredibly durable and helps reinforce particular areas of the backpack to increase overall longevity.
The base of the pack is supported with 420D ripstop nylon, which has incredible abrasion resistance. It's treated with PFAS-free DWR (durable water repellent), which helps prevent water from soaking in through the fabric - ideal for placing it on wet ground as you set up camp for the night.
Which backsystem does it use?
The backsystem of the Aether Pro 70 uses a combination of Osprey technologies to prioritise stability, support and comfort for more challenging adventures.
The Lightwire Suspension features an aluminium 7075 peripheral frame that effectively transfers the weight to the hips, helping to prevent back aches and pains for longer days on the trail. A single 6061-T6 centre stay helps the backpanel to maintain its shape for reliable support when the pack is fully loaded.
The specialised AirScape™ backpanel features vented and ridged foam sections overlaid with a lightweight mesh for maximum comfort and breathability.
An ISOFORM4 spacer mesh harness feels softer and helps reduce the tension often felt around straps, both on the shoulders and hipbelt. The hipbelt also uses ISOFORM4 for comfort, heat moulded to create a more precise fit.
What are its features?
The top of the pack is protected with a removable top lid that you can use for extra storage. An integrated FlapJacket cover protects the entry point if you want to remove the lid to reduce weight, making this perfectly adaptable to lightweight adventures.
To access the main compartment, you also have a full-length vertical side zip, which is super handy if you want to avoid taking the entire pack off or need to access it when it's raining and want to avoid getting everything inside wet!
An internal reservoir sleeve allows you to mount a water bladder instead of packing bulky water bottles.
Dual removable hipbelt pockets are perfect for storing small essentials like trail snacks, energy gels or headphones, keeping them accessible at all times.
Dual ice tool loops with upper cord attachments give you somewhere safe and secure to store ice axes without the risk of them piercing through your backpack or jacket. Sleeping mat straps allow you to externally attach pads to the pack without them taking up precious room inside. Both sets of straps are removable if you want to cut down on as much weight as possible.
The sternum strap at the front of the harness helps to keep the pack in place. It comes with a small safety whistle in case of emergencies. It's also handy for annoying your adventure buddies along the way...
There are compression straps on the sides and the front of the backpack - the front uses a StraightJacket compression system to cinch everything down and help prevent belongings from moving inside.
If you need more than the 70-litre capacity, or if you're planning on camping in the same spot and want to bring a smaller hiking pack for the daytime, reinforced cord loops allow you to attach an Osprey Daylite daypack to your Aether Pro.
