What is the Talon Pro 20?
One of the most versatile packs in the Osprey range, the Talon Pro is adaptable for multi-sport use without compromising support, comfort and functionality. It suits various activities, from hiking and backpacking to alpine climbing and bike packing - the perfect all-rounder for those who don't want to invest in multiple backpacks.
What is it made of?
The main body comprises NanoFly™ 100D nylon and 200D UHMWPE (ultra-high molecular weight polyethene). The combination of Nanofly™ material and UHMWPE is incredibly robust yet lightweight, ensuring the outer will survive in harsh, rugged terrain without the bulk of standard materials.
The pack's front panel shield and base are reinforced with bluesign® approved 420HD nylon packcloth, which can resist abrasion and wear incredibly well to offer additional strength where needed most. bluesign® approval guarantees strict environmental and consumer safety standards are met, making them a little more friendly to both you and the planet!
All materials are treated with a PFAS-free DWR (durable water repellent) that encourages light rain and water to bead off the surface instead of soaking in. Although please be aware this doesn't make the backpack fully waterproof!
Which backsystem does it use?
The specialised AirScape™ backpanel features vented and ridged foam sections overlaid at the lumbar with a lightweight mesh for maximum comfort and breathability. It's designed to sit closer to the back for a body-stable fit without compromising flexibility.
Spacermesh is placed over die-cut foam on the harness for padding and permeability.
Integrated BioStretch seams in both the harness and hipbelt optimise flexibility to allow more dynamic body movement.
A seamless lumbar-to-hip-belt body wrap also encourages stability nearer the bottom of the pack, which can be pulled closer into the body with the Crossbody ErgoPull belt system.
What are its features?
Dual-zippered panels give you easy access to the main compartment.
Multiple pockets give you various options for organisation, including a top panel zippered slash pocket, an internal mesh pocket (with key clip) and a large stretch woven front panel pocket that is ideal for stowing maps and guidebooks.
Stretch woven side pockets are great for water bottles, or if you'd prefer to carry a hydration bladder, then you're in luck! This pack is hydration compatible - it has an external sleeve that allows you to wire up the reservoir for full on-the-go access during your adventure.
Dual-zippered hipbelt pockets and an easy-access, expandable stretch mesh pocket on the harness are also ideal for keeping smaller essentials to hand, such as trail snacks, energy gels, gloves or a headtorch.
For larger items like ice axes, there are tuck-away attachments with bungee tie-offs to ensure they are correctly secured to the outside of your backpack, preventing them from digging in and ripping the material.
You can cinch the load using the dual lower side-compression straps to keep it in place and stable.
A LidLock attachment gives you a safe place to put your biking helmet when you're not wearing it, whether you've stopped for a pitstop or are setting up camp for the night.
Lastly, an LED light attachment and whistle on the sternum strap also enhance your safety and visibility for exploring in remote settings or after dark.
