What is the Lunar II?
The Lunar II is a simple, synthetically insulated sleeping bag from Mountain Equipment. It's the ideal bag for hut to hut adventures in the mountains or wild camping on hilltops in the summer.
What is it made of?
The Lunar sleeping bag is constructed using synthetic (man-made) Polarloft® insulation with a Lunar 40D outer shell.
Insulation: Polarloft® - This is a high quality, high performance synthetic insulation developed to thrive in places where down cannot. Synthetic insulation works well in damp conditions, as it remains lofted and warm when wet, unlike down. Polarloft® provides excellent weather resistance whilst offering superior warmth and comfort to help you feel your best throughout your adventure.
Outer: Lunar 40D - The outer fabric uses Lunar 40D. This material provides a comfortable, cosy layer, which is durable enough to create a reliable outer to accompany you on camping trips or spring/summer backpacking adventures.
What are its features?
Mountain Equipment has gone back-to-basics with the Lunar II. Built with a single offset layer construction, the Lunar II sleeping bag has a single offset layer of synthetic insulation inside for maximum warmth. The single layer construction reduces weight and bulk, so the II model weighs less than the Lunar III, also improving packability.
The Lunar sleeping bag has an Alpine fit. The Alpine fit is a slightly tapered fit that sits closer to the body to maximise thermal efficiency, helping to prevent large gaps in the bag where heat could escape.
The anatomically shaped hood and foot-box provide extra coverage in vital areas. Keeping the head insulated is super important as our heads are one of our largest sources of warmth! It will help the body regulate the temperature and prevent conductive heat loss.
The main entry for the bag is a full-length zip, which has a baffle running alongside to prevent cold spots.
Stuff it into the lightweight compression sack, included with the bag, for a compact, secure storage both at home and on the move.
