Gore-Tex Pro ePE Technology Gore-Tex Pro ePE Technology After 20 years working apart, Fjallraven have rekindled their historic partnership with world-renowned waterproof performance guru's Gore-Tex. The Bergtagen GTX Pro Trousers use the latest Gore-Tex Pro ePE membrane for maximum wet-weather protection backed by Gore's Guaranteed to keep you dry® promise. This membrane is, of course, free from PFC/PFAS chemicals and aligns with Fjallraven's uncompromising dedication to sustainability..
What are the Bergtagen GTX Pro Trousers?
They're durable and protective waterproof trousers that boast fantastic articulation for a wide range of mountain pursuits and utilise the latest Gore-Tex Pro ePE waterproof technology for reliable protection when the weather's not playing ball.
What are they made from?
The Bergtagen GTX Pro Trousers are made from a robust 70D 3-layer Gore-Tex Pro ePE fabric with Corylon reinforcements on the lower legs, balancing waterproof protection and mountain-level durability.
Gore-Tex Pro ePE is made from 100% recycled nylon with a microgrid outer fabric for a balance of durability and performance. The material provides excellent abrasion resistance and fantastic waterproof, windproof protection for the most challenging conditions, whether torrential wind and rain or harsh snow.
Gore-Tex Pro pulls out all the stops, being the most rugged Gore-Tex product available. Not only is it incredibly durable, but it offers the highest level of breathability to enhance temperature regulation and moisture management.
This latest Gore-Tex® ePE technology is made using recycled fabrics and without the use of PFAS/PFC chemicals for a significantly reduced environmental impact. It's backed by their famous 'Guaranteed to keep you dry®' promise, reassuring you that it's engineered to perform.
If you were wondering, PFAS/PFCs are per or poly-fluorinated chemicals, aka 'forever chemicals' that stay permanently in the environment and cause lasting damage to our ecosystems. This is why Fjallraven has been saying no to PFAS chemicals since 2009, and now the outdoor industry is working towards a completely PFC-free future. This latest membrane from Gore-Tex® is a big step forward for the brand and has allowed Fjallraven to rekindle their historic partnership.
Fjallraven has used Corylon to reinforce the lower legs for protection from chunky mountaineering or ski boots and crampons. Corylon is a super strong, highly abrasion-resistant and slightly stretchy material made predominantly from recycled polyamide from yarn scraps, offcuts and second-quality fabrics combined with super tough aramid (kevlar) fibres for exceptional strength.
The Trousers are finished with a PFC-Free DWR (durable water repellent) coating to encourage rain, snow and mud to bead off the material instead of soaking in, helping to keep the trousers waterproof membrane clean, protected and in tip-top shape. To find out more about how to care for your waterproof clothing and why you should maintain the DWR, check out our YouTube video here.
What are their features?
The Bergtagen GTX Pro Trousers feature a comfortable waistband with velcro adjustments to tailor the fit and belt loops should you wish to add a belt.
Two 3/4 length two-way side zippers offer versatile ventilation options, allowing you to easily release excess heat should you start to work up a sweat. They also aid easy on/off transitions over various chunky boots.
For storage, there are two large bellowed zippered leg pockets with internal media pockets, a loop for a GPS device, and a smaller zippered security pocket. The pockets provide plenty of storage for various mountain essentials while still being accessible when wearing a climbing harness.
The bottom of the legs are reinforced with super tough Corylon patches to protect the trousers from abrasion caused by chunky mountaineering/ ski boots, crampons and rugged mountainsides. The bottom of the legs are adjustable to achieve the ideal slim fit around various boot styles, aiding more technical foot placements, whilst internal snow gaiters prevent your trousers from filling with snow on fresh powder routes.
Fjallraven has engineered the trousers with fantastic articulation to provide a superior range of movement suitable for various mountain pursuits and technical manoeuvres.
