What is the Lifa Merino Midweight Hoodie?
The Lifa Merino is very aptly named, as it's made from Lifa and Merino Wool! It combines these two insulative fabrics to provide a super warm, highly breathable, moisture-wicking layer for virtually any outdoor activity.
What is it made of?
This technical layer is unique in the fact that it's made using two different fabrics, one over the other. You've got Helly's own Lifa fabric on the inside with Merino Wool layered over the top. Lifa has been a staple fabric in Helly Hansen's clothing since the birth of the company in 1970; it was the first fabric that actively moved moisture away from your skin and pushed it out to evaporate, therefore keeping you dry and comfortable. Not only is Lifa extremely breathable and moisture-wicking, but warm and comfortable thanks to the soft insulative fibres.
To add further warmth, Helly Hansen have layered Merino Wool over the top. Merino Wool is naturally odour-resistant, incredibly warm and temperature regulating, making this layer even more capable in freezing conditions. The wool Helly Hansen use is also incredibly fine, meaning it's not itchy like cheaper alternatives.
What are its features?
A stretchy hood adds extra warmth and will fit under a climbing helmet, while flatlock seams prevent chafing throughout the day.
Where does it fit in the layering system?
Technically, this could be used as either a very warm baselayer or a lightweight midlayer. The highly wicking interior fabric makes it great as a next-to-skin piece.
