What are the Prism Gloves?
The Prism Ultra Gloves are a must-have for just about anyone who loves being outdoors. They are Montane’s lightest weight and most packable insulated glove and have been designed to be stashed in your pack and popped on when the conditions change, or as a comfortable all-day glove for fast-paced cold activities. They feature a Pertex windproof outer and a soft microfleece lining, which makes them perfect for just about any outdoor activity. They can be used on their own or underneath a pair of shell mitts.
What are they made of?
Insulation: The key to the Prism Ultra gloves superb performance is the 25g Primaloft silver insulation, this is the most thermally efficient insulation available. It offers the ultimate warmth to weight ratio and has incredible packability and softness – it also happens to be 70% recycled so it's better for the planet. Even if your Prism gloves get soaked, simply wring them out; Primaloft maintains 98% of warmth when wet and dries exceptionally quickly.
Outer Fabric: This superb insulation is protected by 30 Denier Pertex Quantum Eco shell which is windproof and water-resistant. It is made from 100% recycled materials, further boosting the exceptionally environmental credentials of these gloves. The gloves are then given a DWR (Durable Water Repellant) coating to help water bead off the material. Whilst these gloves are exceptionally weather resistant, they are not 100% waterproof so remember to take a pair of shell gloves out with you.
Lining Fabric: The Prism gloves are then lined with a soft brushed microfleece lining to the back of the hand and a lightweight fleece lining on the palm for additional warmth and moisture management.
What are the features?
The Prism gloves feature Montane's superb fit with curved inner seams for excellent dexterity. The elasticated cuffs give you a secure fit around your wrist helping to keep them warm and the elements out. Conductive thread is used on the thumb, index and middle finger so you can still operate your touch screen devices without having to remove your gloves.
Where do they fit in the layering system?
The Prism gloves can be used perfectly well on their own but if the conditions do get nasty they work superbly under a pair of Shell mittens to create a warm and waterproof modular system.
