What is the Tolpa Jacket?

The Tolpa Jacket is lightweight jacket that features Gore-Tex® ePE technology to provide complete waterproof protection with a lesser environmental impact. Developed by Tierra designers and the brand’s test-team of professional mountain-guides, this jacket delivers ample performance for long alpine adventures and mountain missions.

What is it made of?

The Tolpa Jacket uses a Gore-Tex® three-layer ePE membrane with a solution-dyed C-knit backer for smooth, moisture-wicking comfort, made with 100% recycled polyester.

This updated Gore® technology uses an ePE membrane, a key milestone in the leading brand's responsible performance journey. If you were wondering, ePE stands for expanded polyethene, which is light, thin yet durable, and PFC-free. If you're familiar with Trekitt descriptions, you may have seen that 'PFC-free' phrase floating around before. PFCs are per or poly-fluorinated chemicals, aka 'forever chemicals' that stay permanently in the environment and cause lasting damage to our ecosystems. Many companies are working towards a completely PFC-free future, so this is quite a breakthrough for the Gore-Tex® brand! In addition, this membrane has a reduced carbon footprint, as it uses laminates with a lower-mass membrane and select textiles, making it an ideal choice for more environmentally conscious adventurers.

The material itself provides complete waterproof and windproof protection, with ample breathability to prevent sweat and condensation from building up inside, helping regulate body temperature. Overall, it has been rigorously tested to ensure a long-lasting product life, and is bluesign® and GRS-certified which adds to those eco-friendly credentials, as you won't need to buy a new replacement for a long time, saving energy, resources and waste.

GRS-certified (Global Recycled Standard) means that the products' recycled content has been tracked and verified to meet a certain standard regarding social and environmental factors and a minimum of 50% recycled content.

What are the features?

A fully adjustable helmet hood provides extra protection for the head and neck and can be adapted for a precise fit every time.

Two large hand pockets, a large alpine chest pocket, and internal skin pockets provide storage for essentials such as hats, gloves, trail snacks, and energy gels. You also get an internal phone pocket to keep your mobile or GPS device tucked away safely, and an internal ski pass pocket. Both of these pockets can be accessed from the outside.

Large ventilation zips allow you to quickly dump heat when working hard and enhance temperature regulation by increasing airflow inside the jacket.

A large, two-way front zipper also allows you to ventilate the jacket from the bottom up, or make room for equipment like climbing harnesses without removing the jacket completely.

Adjustable sleeve ends and an adjustable hem provide cinchability to help seal out the weather if conditions are harsh.
