What are the Distance Carbon FLZ's?

Improve your posture and endurance with the Black Diamond Distance Carbon FLZ (FlickLock® Z-pole) trekking poles. These are lightweight, high performance trekking poles with an adaptable construction for a comfortable fit, offering maximum support whilst feeling almost weightless and easy to use.

What are they made of?

The clue's in the name - these poles are made of a 100% carbon construction, with carbon fibre shafts for a super lightweight feel. The FlickLock® Pro adjustments are constructed with aluminium for added durability, reducing wear and providing reassurance they'll stay in place when in use. The grips are made from a light EVA foam for comfort and grip, which have a moisture wicking strap crafted from recycled material. Weighing in at an impressive 170g per pole, these are effortless to carry yet still offer the highest standard of support for longer hikes and hill walking.

What are their features?

The poles are designed with a Z-pole construction with speed-cone deployment. To extend them from the Z-configuration, pull down on the slider shaft until they click into place. The Distance Carbon FLZ has a FlickLock® adjustment system, which is super easy to use. Simply flick the pin upwards and adjust to your desired length - once they feel good, flick the pin back down to secure the height. The FlickLock® can also be tightened with a screwdriver if it feels loose after heavy use - open the adjustment and tighten until your heart's content.

Due to their collapsible nature, they are really easy to store and transport - many modern daypacks and hiking packs have stow away features specially designed for trekking poles to provide on the go storage.

This model comes with optimised joint support and stiffness, which helps to increase the overall durability of the pole, so you can shift your weight around with them for some extra stability, without having to worry about them snapping or buckling under pressure.

Rubber tech tips are included with the sticks. However, the tech tips are interchangeable, and these poles are compatible with the BD carbide tech tips for those who require a little extra traction in icy conditions on the trails. Just above the tech tips are low profile baskets for versatility, which can be changed to Z-Pole Snow Baskets (not included) for tackling hills and mountain trails during the winter.
