What are the Leki Khumbu Lite Poles?
The Leki Khumbu Lite poles are designed as a lighter alternative to the standard Khumbu, making them better suited for smaller users or anyone prioritising weight savings without sacrificing strength. With a length range of 100–135 cm, a 67 cm pack size, and weighing 245 g per pole, they are strong enough for alpine treks and long-distance hiking, yet light enough to handle comfortably on multi-day adventures. By slimming down the shaft diameters compared to the standard Khumbu, the Lite offers reduced swing weight and improved handling, while still retaining the proven aluminium toughness.
What are they made of?
High-Strength Aluminium (HTS 6.5)
The Khumbu Lite is made from HTS 6.5 aluminium, providing durability, toughness, and impact resistance. This material makes them reliable in demanding conditions, whether trekking rocky alpine trails or carrying heavy packs. The slimmer shaft design reduces overall weight, making them more efficient over long distances while still maintaining the “superstrong” DNA of the Khumbu range.
Matt Metallic Finish
The matte metallic coating combines scratch resistance with a clean, technical look. It hides scuffs better than glossy finishes, keeping the poles looking professional even after extensive use in rugged environments.
Aergon Grip
The Aergon ergonomic grip provides comfort and flexibility for varied terrain. Its rounded, edgeless top allows multiple hand positions, perfect for bracing during descents, traversing, or powering uphill. The design distributes pressure evenly across the palm, reducing fatigue over extended periods, while textured grip zones enhance control in wet or gloved conditions.
Lock System Strap Soft 2.0
Equipped with Lock System Strap Soft 2.0, the Khumbu Lite poles ensure a comfortable and secure wrist connection. The strap is constructed from a soft, durable material that prevents rubbing and irritation during long hikes, while remaining tough enough to handle extended use.
Carbide Flex Tips
The Carbide Flex Tip Short ensures precise planting and long-lasting grip. Carbide is highly resistant to wear, maintaining traction on rocky, gravelly, or icy surfaces over years of use. Its compact shape improves swing efficiency while protecting the shaft ends from impact.
What are their features?
Telescopic Vario Design
The three-section telescopic design allows for continuous adjustment between 100 cm and 135 cm, providing versatility across various terrain types. Collapsing down to 67 cm, the poles can be easily stored in a pack or larger travel bags.
Speed Lock Plus Adjustment
With Speed Lock Plus, length adjustments are quick and reliable. The external clamp system allows fast, tool-free changes — even with gloves — and locks firmly under pressure, ensuring dependable performance on challenging treks.
Slimline Shaft Design
With diameters of Ø16, 14, and 12 mm, the Khumbu Lite uses slimmer shafts compared to the standard Khumbu, which reduces swing weight and makes the poles easier to handle. This design prioritises efficiency while still offering the durability needed for long mountain treks.
Trekking 2.0 Basket
The Trekking 2.0 baskets provide stability on soft ground while remaining compact enough to avoid snagging on rocks, roots, or narrow trails. They can be swapped easily for larger baskets when heading into snow-covered terrain.
