What are the Phantom 6000 HD Boots?
The Phantom 6000 HD Boots are one of the most versatile options out of the exceptional Phantom range. Crafted by those who live, work and play in the mountains, the Phantoms are designed for technical ice climbing and extreme high altitude mountaineering.
What are they made of?
Providing the weather resistance on the Phantom is an H.Dry membrane. H.Dry breaks away from the standard mould of waterproof membranes and actually laminates the membrane directly to the external layer of the boot, meaning it's far more breathable, durable and reliable than many other alternatives. Since it sits far closer to the outer of the boot, a H.dry membrane decreases the amount of fabric that water can sink into.
Wintherm® is a thermoregulatory membrane designed to balance body temperature without hindering breathability. It's used to insulate feet from the cold, and retain heat with combined insulative and reflective technologies.
As you would expect, a high altitude boot has to be warm enough to deal with almost polar-like temperatures. The Phantom 3000 HD features an inner boot with two types of Primaloft® insulation - Primaloft® Black and Primaloft® Gold Eco. Primaloft® is one of the warmest forms of insulation due to the densely woven construction of the fabric; therefore it can trap more heat than alternative insulation with a looser construction. This is then backed up with a silver PU film and a 4mm thick thermo-isolated EVA foam to trap more heat that may escape.
The gaiter is constructed from three materials to offer durability, stretch and comfort. Elasticated S-Tech is used on pressure points such as the foot instep and the backward area, while the external fabric is made from a mix of super-tough Nylon and Kevlar. Schoeller® fabric has been added to reinforce the durability of the material, virtually making these boots bombproof, without compromising comfort and weight. These durable outer fabrics provide high abrasion resistance and all-round durability when dealing with crampon strikes, rock abrasion and general wear and tear.
Finally, they have a Vibram® Durastep outsole, made from an innovative rubber compound, which offers superior grip and traction on challenging terrain, and gives the foot more stability on uneven ground. It's exceptionally durable and is guaranteed to last for years to come.
What are the features?
The Phantom 6000 HD Boots feature nearly a century of experience, providing one of the most technical and well-thought-out mountaineering boots available at this point in time. Whether you're winter mountaineering, mixed climbing, ice climbing or simply hanging around at high altitude, the Phantom's designed to slip under the radar and let you enjoy the limelight of your achievement.
A naturally shaped toe area is great for climbing and an ergonomic forefoot shape gives a precise fit with the greatest comfort.
RECCO® technology was initially designed in response to an avalanche tragedy and launched in 1983. It's a two-part system that enables rapid, directional pinpointing of your precise location with a harmonic radar, helping you feel more protected during extreme activities. Scarpa is the first brand to use this technology in its footwear, proving a very effective solution for adventurers and rescuers.
