What are the Wildfire Edge Shoes?
The Wildfire Edge Shoes are ideal for varied mountain routes where you do a little bit of everything. Their durable, technical construction makes them suitable for alpine adventures, hiking, scrambling and climbing, offering maximum comfort, protection and precision to enhance performance.
What are they made of?
Upper: The upper is 1.6mm suede leather, which has a smart finish and offers incredible durability. An EXA Shell Over Injected 3D Cage provides reinforcement where needed most and enhances the structure without compromising flexibility. It offers excellent abrasion resistance and shields the mesh underneath, meaning these shoes will provide you with excellent all-round protection on all terrains.
Lining: A lightweight mesh lining offers a high level of breathability, allowing sweat and moisture to escape from the inside to stop your feet from feeling clammy in warmer environments.
Insole: The insole features a strategically placed edging plate for additional directional stiffness without hindering the shoe's overall flexibility. It allows the foot to remain responsive and promotes a more natural rolling motion when walking.
Midsole: An EVA midsole provides stability under the foot without feeling too solid. It's incredibly durable and can easily withstand a beating on hard rock surfaces and rugged paths.
Outsole: The Wildfires feature a Pomoca Speed MTN sole, which promises grip, traction and sure-footed precision on technical climbs, muddy walks and loose scrambles. A climbing zone section at the toe increases accuracy and grip when edging, while the super-soft rubber compound grips to rock in both wet and dry conditions. Lastly, an aggressive heel provides extra stability when descending.
What are their features?
A climbing lacing system extends down to the toes, allowing you to customise the tension and fit down the entire length of the shoe. These shoes also feature the Salewa Switchfit system, which pulls your foot forward into the toebox, compressing them in a similar style to a climbing shoe for maximum precision when climbing and scrambling. To use the system, tighten the laces through the rear eyelet and fasten them up. Once finished, you can loosen them again to get more room and provide a comfier fit for hiking the rest of your route.
Salewa has also incorporated its '3F system' using strong Kevlar® cables to provide the most secure fit possible. The system ensures a blister-free, accurate experience by attaching a thin wire to two of the lacing hooks, which wraps around the heel of the boot.
A Multi Fit Footbed+ allows you to customise the fit even further by reducing the volume of the heel area or front section (or both) using two interchangeable layers. The footbed features Cleansport NXT pro-biotic technology to help control odour, so you won't have to worry about offending your pals once you get home.
A stretch gaiter helps to keep the weather out if the conditions are a little rough. Finally, the anti-rock heel cup locks your foot in place to ensure torsional stability.
