Consumer Contract Regulations (CCR)

What are the Consumer Contract Regulations?

Under the "Consumer Contract Regulations, you have the right to cancel an order for goods made at a distance. These rights start from the moment you place your order and ends 14 days from the day you receive your goods.

Your right to cancel

Your right to cancel an order for goods starts the moment you place your order and ends 14 days from the day you receive your goods.

This 14 day period is the time you have to decide whether to cancel, you then have a further 14 days to actually send the goods back.

Your Right to a Refund under CCR

You may get a refund within 14 days of either, the trader getting the goods back, or you providing evidence of having returned the goods (for example, a proof of postage receipt from the post office), whichever is the sooner.

A deduction can be made if the value of the goods has been reduced as a result of you handling the goods more than was necessary. The extent to which you can handle the goods is the same as it would be if you were assessing them in a shop.

Refunding the cost of delivery

The trader has to refund the basic delivery cost of getting the goods to you in the first place, so if you opted for enhanced service e.g. guaranteed next day, it only has to refund the basic cost.

Exemptions

There are some circumstances where the Consumer Contracts Regulations does not give you a right to cancel. These include CDs, DVDs or software if you've broken the seal on the wrapping, perishable items and tailor-made or personalised items. They also include goods with a seal for health protection and hygiene reasons that have been broken or tampered with, e.g. Climbing Equipment and PPE.

My goods are broken

If you feel that your item is defective/broken/faulty and it is still under warranty, please contact our Customer Support team([email protected])with as much information as possible with regards to the fault, including photos if applicable.

We want to reduce our impact on the environment as much as possible, the first step for this is reducing our waste. Therefore, please note that we will always offer a professional repair in the first instance; if the product can be repaired.

This may involve your product being sent back to our suppliers or to a professional repair company. Please note that due tovaried procedures, warranty claims and repairs can take between 2 and 4 weeks to be concluded

Hanwag Mens Alta Bunion II GTX Navy/Grey

Season:SS26

Brand:Hanwag

Code:H203900-007600

THE BUNION SPECIFIC FIT. The standout feature of the Hanwag Alta Bunion boots is their specialised bunion last, a thoughtful design that gives your big‑toe joint extra space. The boots look like any ordinary leather boots on the outside, but inside, they accommodate hallux valgus. Trekitt's customers consistently praise this feature for delivering pain‑free walks, even on longer hikes.

What are the Hanwag Alta Bunion?

The Alta is a tough, reliable and ultra-comfortable boot designed for general countryside walking, backpacking and light trekking. Their most notable features include a Gore-Tex membrane, a nubuck leather upper, a Vibram sole unit and a fit designed specifically for those with bunions (or Hallux Valgus).

How are they constructed?

Upper: The uppers are made from a tough, reliable and supple nubuck leather with a fabric tongue to aid in breathability. Thicker pieces of leather are used on the heel and toe to deal with regular abrasion.

Midsole: The reinforced PU foam wedge offers cushioning shock absorbency and roll-off performance to help protect your joints so you'll enjoy being out for longer.

Membrane: Underneath the tough upper is a fully waterproof Gore-Tex membrane, keeping your feet dry and comfortable in our wet and wild UK conditions.

Outsole: A Vibram Endurance sole unit keeps you connected to the ground. Widely spaced lugs clean themselves as you walk, while a sharp heel brake ensures you've got plenty of grip when descending on loose ground. Small ridges between the forefoot and heel provide extra grip on cables if you fancy attempting some via Ferrata routes.

How do they fit?

As the name gives away, the Alta's feature Hanwags 'Hallux Valgus' Last; a fit designed for those with bunions. From the exterior, the boots look the same as regular boots, but once your foot is inside you can immediately feel the extra room on the inner forefoot. Hanwag also avoid putting seams or stitch-points around this sensitive area.

  • Women's specific fit
  • Gore-Tex membrane
  • Leather upper
  • Vibram outsole
  • 'Hallux Valgus' Bunion fit
  • Padded leather cuff
  • No seams on toe joint
How the Alta Bunion Boot is Built for Bunion Relief? Unlike regular wide-fit boots, the Hanwag Alta Bunion is built on a special "bunion last" that is anatomically shaped to give extra room specifically at the big toe joint (the area affected by hallux valgus). This design means the boot doesn't just offer a wider overall fit. It carefully increases space exactly where needed, without sacrificing heel hold or midfoot support. On top of that, the leather upper is designed with minimal seams in the forefoot to prevent rubbing, pressure, or blistering over the bunion area.
Hanwag Alta Bunion Review "Finally, boots that don't hurt my feet." That's what we hear at Trekitt from customers with bunions who try the Hanwag Alta Bunion.
We've had walkers say it's the first time they've worn leather boots without discomfort. Some even forget they have bunions once they're out on the trail. And the best bit? You're still getting a proper hillwalking boot. Gore-Tex lining, Vibram sole, and durable leather that's ready for British weather. If bunions have made boot shopping frustrating, give these a try. They've genuinely made a difference for so many of our customers.
Are Alta Bunion Good For Rough Terrain? Absolutely. The Hanwag Alta Bunion II GTX is classed as a Category B (or BA) boot. It strikes that ideal balance between flexibility and support, great for rough UK trails, multi-day hikes, and even Alpine trekking. You get solid ankle support for uneven ground, plus a cushioned midsole that smooths out your stride. The Vibram® Endurance Pro outsole provides excellent grip on rocky, muddy, or loose terrain, giving you great confidence underfoot.

FAQ

Can I wear Altra Bunion II GTX on rough UK terrain?

Definitely. These are Category B boots, which means they offer solid ankle support and stability. The Vibram Endurance Pro sole grips well on rocky, muddy, and uneven ground—ideal for UK hillwalking and backpacking.

Are they waterproof?

Yes, they're fully waterproof thanks to the Gore-Tex lining. They'll keep your feet dry through wet grass, muddy paths, and classic British downpours.

Do they break in easily?

They do. While they feel sturdy at first, most people find they soften up quickly and become very comfortable after a few walks, especially around the forefoot, where the bunion last helps avoid rubbing.

How is the grip on these boots?

The Vibram Endurance Pro outsole offers excellent grip on various surfaces, from slick wet stones to dry, dusty paths. It's designed to handle long hikes and mixed terrain confidently.

Can I replace the insoles?

Yes, you can swap out the standard insoles for custom ones or orthotics. The boots have enough volume to accommodate them comfortably.

Are they suitable for multi-day hikes?

Absolutely. With great cushioning, durable leather uppers, and solid grip, they're a great choice for multi-day trips, even with a loaded pack.

What size should I order?

They fit true to size for most people, but if you're between sizes or plan to wear thick socks, sizing up slightly can be a good idea. Trying them on with your usual hiking socks is best if you can.

Where are Hanwag boots made?

Hanwag boots are made right here in Europe—mainly in Germany and nearby countries—with a real focus on quality and tradition. They've been crafting boots for over 100 years, blending old-school handmade techniques with modern materials and design. What you get is a seriously durable, well-made boot that feels solid on your foot and built to last. It’s not mass-produced fast fashion, it’s proper craftsmanship you can rely on, hike after hike.
