What is the Banks Low Bunion GTX?
The Banks Low Bunion GTX from Hanwag is a low-cut hiking shoe made with incredibly high-quality materials, sourced entirely from Europe. They are a pair of fully waterproof, comfortable walking shoes designed to be worn all day on light trails in the mountains, woodlands and coastal paths. They’re the ideal shoe for all year-round UK adventures. The ‘Bunion Hike’ Last has been specifically designed for wearers with hallux valgus and provides more space at the big toe joint for extra comfort all day long.
What is it made of?
Fabrics: The Banks are made using a combination of high quality nubuck and suede leather. Not only is leather tough and breathable, but it is also naturally water resistant, helping add a bit of reinforcement to the Gore-Tex lining.
Membrane: This leather upper is backed by a Gore-Tex membrane, providing full waterproof protection to the entire shoe. A DWR treatment is then applied to provide extra protection, ensuring that water beads off the fabric during light rain and showers.
Midsole: The Banks feature a PU foam wedge midsole for added comfort and shock absorption.
Sole: Hanwag then use their own ‘Endurance Hike’ outsole, which is made using 10% recycled rubber. It’s tough and built for use on a wide variety of surfaces.
What are the features?
The Banks feature a high-quality footbed and soft heel reinforcement for added comfort over long distances. The shoes also feature an ‘Futura’ integrated tongue construction to help protect from debris ingress and easy adjustment.
