What are the Makra Trek GTX?
The Makra Trek GTX are sturdy, agile all-round trekking/ hiking boots that can handle rugged terrain in pretty much any condition, from demanding Alpine tours to multi-day hikes in Scotland. They're created using a combination of premium materials to deliver reliable, high-performance and lasting comfort on long trails.
What are they made from?
Upper: The Makra Trek's upper is made from high-quality Perwanger suede, which is incredibly durable and breathable. Suede embossing down the sides of the boot allows the material to retain its shape without stretching and becoming loose over time, whilst still being pliable enough to flex and deal with technical manoeuvres and steep ascents.
Membrane: The boots are lined with a classic Gore-Tex® membrane for maximum waterproof protection and breathability, keeping you both comfortable and protected from the elements at all times.
Outsole: The outsoles are specially developed Vibram® Integral Light outsoles that use Hanwag's 3D Prism Base technology to remove unnecessary rubber between the individual lugs, reducing the boot's overall weight. This Vibram® outsole provides optimum grip on alpine tours and various terrains, from root-covered woodland paths to smooth, slippery rock.

The Makra Trek GTX feature a colourful, sporty design and a lightweight, comfortable construction for demanding hikes and multi-day adventures. Who said hiking boots can't be comfy and stylish? They're great for those looking for a pair of boots that are, well, just a bit more interesting than traditional brown leather walking boots.
The boots use Hanwag's 2 Zone Lock with a mechanical lace lock, which uses a two-zone system that runs down to the toes for precise tensioning at two vital points. It's quick, easy, effective to use and can be adjusted with one hand. The clamp lace hooks ensure that once you've done these boots up, the laces will stay in place and cannot move unless manually altered, meaning you won't need to keep stopping to re-tighten them!
Flexible cuffs provide support around the ankle for better stability and exceptional cushioning when moving over uneven ground and technical terrain.
3D Prism Base technology in the outsole uses a specialised rubber base structure, designed almost like a prism, to reduce the overall weight of the boots. It has a light but aggressive tread that guarantees fantastic grip on various types of terrain, made with a tried-and-tested Vibram® rubber compound.
