What is the Chamuera HS Thermo Hooded Parka?
Mammut has designed the Chamuera HS Thermo Parka with urban life and outdoor lifestyles in mind. This jacket is the perfect everyday piece to carry you through autumn and winter and survive all weather. It's warm, waterproof and windproof, perfect for walking the dog, heading into town or even meeting your mates for a pint.
What is it made of?
The main fabric uses a mixture of polyamide and recycled polyamide with a polyurethane membrane, which is exceptionally robust to withstand regular use and abrasion from rough surfaces or backpacks. Mammut has lined the Chamuera HS with woven polyamide, which is durable, lightweight, and smooth against the skin, should you just be wearing a t-shirt underneath.
Built-in Mammut DRYtechnology™ gives the material its waterproof nature whilst highly breathable to promote temperature regulation and improve comfort. Materials are also treated with a PFC-free DWR (durable water repellent), which doesn't use per- or poly-fluorinated chemicals that harm the environment.
Mammut's very own Ajungilak® OTI™ insulation fills the jacket to provide an even spread of warmth that will last you for years. Ajungilak® OTI™ is a synthetic insulation that is durable and lightweight.
Synthetic insulation can be beneficial for several reasons, depending on your activity. It's perfect for a more casual coat where you need less packability and may need extra protection in damp weather when you don't have a shell jacket to throw over the top. Why, you ask? Synthetic insulation is renowned for staying warm when wet, unlike down, which usually clumps up into a soggy mess and loses all heat retention, making it perfect for all weather.
To top it all off, the materials are bluesign® approved, giving them some extra eco-friendly credentials by ensuring they are safe for workers, consumers and the environment.
What are its features?
The hood of this parka comes with a two-point adjustment system that helps you optimise the fit around different head shapes, sizes or layers underneath like a beanie or hoodie. A chin guard helps prevent the front from catching against your skin or beard when the zip is fully fastened.
The front, two-way zip is perfect for taking a leisurely stroll on the hills when you need extra ventilation. You have the choice to unzip from the bottom to stop rain seeping in through the top. A flap over the top of the zip acts as a storm guard, helping prevent rain and wind from seeping through the fastening. It also allows you to button up the jacket instead of using the zip to improve airflow if you don't want to leave the zip undone.
In terms of storage, you have plenty of options to choose from! Two chest pockets with concealed zips are ideal for your mobile phone, while the two slit pockets with zippers work well for doggy bags, keys, earbuds or hill snacks. The zipped sleeve pocket works well for bus passes or rail cards you might want to access quickly, and an internal pocket gives you a safe place for more valuable items like a wallet.
Cuffs can be adjusted using the simple button adjuster, perfect for adapting the size if you have a thick fleece or chunky gloves layered underneath. Similarly, the drawstring adjuster on the hem can cinch the bottom in with a swift pull.
The Chamuera is finished with reflective detailing on the back, giving you extra visibility if you're out after hours, whether heading to the pub or commuting back from work during winter.
