90-day returns period

We do not offer a free returns service. Therefore, all customers are responsible for any postage costs when returning any goods (excluding warranty returns).

What is the Saltoro Jacket?

The Saltoro is a Gore-Tex® waterproof jacket for various outdoor activities, such as hiking and backpacking. It's also versatile enough for casual activities and now has a more environmentally responsible design.

What is it made of?

The Saltoro has been updated to use a Gore-Tex® ePE membrane, recycled polyester, and a PFC-free DWR (durable water repellent).

The ePE membrane is much more environmentally responsible than previous Gore-Tex® membranes and helps reduce this jacket's impact.

If you were wondering, ePE stands for expanded polyethene, which is light, thin yet durable, and PFC-free. If you're familiar with Trekitt descriptions, you may have seen that 'PFC-free' phrase floating around before. PFCs are per or poly-fluorinated chemicals, aka 'forever chemicals' that stay permanently in the environment and cause lasting damage to our ecosystems. Many companies are working towards a completely PFC-free future, so this is quite a breakthrough for the Gore-Tex® brand! In addition, this membrane has a reduced carbon footprint, as it uses laminates with a lower-mass membrane and select textiles, making it an ideal choice for more environmentally conscious adventurers.

The material itself provides complete waterproof and windproof protection, with ample breathability to prevent sweat and condensation from building up inside, helping regulate body temperature. Overall, it has been rigorously tested to ensure a long-lasting product life, which adds to those eco-friendly credentials, as you won't need to buy a new replacement for a long time, saving energy, resources and waste.

What are its features?

The Saltoro features a helmet-compatible and fully adjustable Mountain Hood that you can cinch to sit snugly on your head when you're not wearing a helmet. Storage-wise, the jacket has two generous hand pockets in the front, both with YKK® water-resistant zippers.

The jacket features adjustable laminated cuffs, dual tether hem drawcords (which don't catch on crampons or ice axes), and a YKK® moulded centre front zip with an internal flap to seal out the elements.

If you need to dump excess heat, you can do so via the armpit vents. These vents feature YKK® water-resistant zippers to help seal out the elements when they are zipped up.

The Saltoro fits into Mountain Equipments 'Alpine Fit' block, designed to be close fitting but still able to accommodate a few layers underneath.
