What is the Mellor Jacket?
The Mellor Jacket is a synthetically filled insulated waterproof jacket that is the perfect all-round solution to your winter needs. This warm and versatile jacket is designed to protect you from the worst of the UK weather, whether you are hill walking in the Lake District or watching your kids play rugby on the weekend.
What is it made from?
Outer: The outer of the Mellor is created from a durable 2-layer HydroDRY® 75D polyester Oxford fabric. Soft to the touch, it balances waterproof and windproof protection with comfort and breathability. Designed to keep you warm, dry and comfortable whatever the adventure.
This soft touch face fabric is treated with a PFC-Free DWR (durable water repellent) coating to encourage rain to bead off the fabric instead of soaking in, improving the jacket's waterproof properties. This DWR is free from harmful forever chemicals (PFCs) that cause damage to the environment.
Insulation: The heart of the jacket is filled with ThermoSphere™ synthetic insulation that is made from 100% polyester. It uses 100g insulation to the body and 80g to the sleeves for maximum warmth, whilst 60g to the hood and collar reduce unnecessary bulk.
ThermoSphere™ insulation has an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio that will keep you well-protected even when the insulation is damp. Unlike traditional down-filled jackets, synthetic insulation is easier to care for and retains up to 90% of its thermal performance when wet.
What are its features?
Starting from the top, a fully insulated, adjustable hood protects you from the elements, whilst a wired peak helps keep rain and snow out of your face by providing a little extra coverage to the forehead.
The Mellor jacket uses body-mapped insulation for optimal thermal performance with minimal bulk. A central zip closure with a reversed zip and inner storm flap helps keep driving rain and wind from entering the jacket through the zip.
For storage, two zipped hand pockets are ideal for storing your keys, wallet and snacks. A single inner pocket with hoop and loop closure provides a secure place for storing valuable items such as a mobile phone or GPS device, so you don't have to worry about losing them out on the hill.
Velcro adjustable cuffs and a drawcord hem allow you to cinch in the jacket on wet and windy days, sealing the elements out and keeping warm air in. Let's face it; if you live in the UK, you know exactly what I mean.
