What is the Aether Plus 70?

The Aether Plus 70 is a spacious backpack with plenty of adjustment, allowing you to fine-tune the fit for maximum comfort. It's the ideal pack for travelling, trekking, multi-day hiking or camping in remote locations.

What is it made of?

The whole bag is made with bluesign® approved, recycled 210D high-tenacity nylon with a PFAS-free DWR (durable water repellent). Though half the density of the previous Aether Plus 70 model, this material is still incredibly robust and can easily withstand bumps and scrapes in rugged terrain. Reducing the density will help to reduce weight so the pack doesn't feel so bulky, even when empty.

Accents on the bag use the same fabric with a honeycomb contrast, which is just as robust and gives the design some extra detail.

PFAS-free DWR offers water resistance (though not complete waterproofing) for showery conditions, helping keep your belongings dry when caught in some unexpected drizzle. Avoiding PFAS makes this treatment a little more eco-friendly, as it won't leave harmful chemicals in our environment.

bluesign® approval means it's manufactured in a way that is safe for the environment, workers and consumers. bluesign® certifications ensure that the materials used avoid harmful substances, use reduced air and water emissions, increase resource productivity, and the production line is more transparent and trustworthy.

What backsystem does it use?

The Aether Plus 70 features an AirScape™ suspension system. Osprey has built this system with a LightWire peripheral frame, which helps spread the load, and an updated AirScape™ backpanel. The AirScape™ backpanel comprises an injection-moulded, die-cut foam framesheet designed to maintain comfort. This framesheet also has ventilated airflow channels, providing maximum stability for carrying heavier loads.

A mesh-covered foam lumbar enhances support while reducing weight and maintaining comfort in contact areas.

The easily adjustable harness system gives you full adaptability to dial in the fit. Spacer mesh fabric is used on the harness. This fabric feels soft close to skin, reducing the risk of uncomfortable rubbing or digging. Spacer mesh also increases temperature regulation and offers a more comfortable contact surface.

Custom, fit-on-the-fly, spacer mesh shoulder straps ensure that the straps wrap around the shoulders comfortably whilst providing a secure and precise fit.

A custom, fit-on-the-fly, Crossbody ErgoPull hipbelt fits various waist sizes and includes incremental length and angle adjustments to dial down the fit. The belt pulls weight into the lumbar when you tighten the hipbelt, helping to prevent back pains and injury when carrying your load on the trails. The hipbelt also integrates the LightWire frame into the adjustment system to help evenly distribute weight for a better overall carry.

What features does it have?

A clever feature of the Aether Plus is the convertible top lid with lash points. You can convert the lid into a small daypack for alternative carry options if you're hiking from camp or travelling with day trips in between. Alternatively, if you're looking to trim down weight, you can remove the lid altogether and use the integrated FlapJacket.

A raincover, made with bluesign® approved, PFAS-free materials, is included with the pack to enhance weather protection when needed.

Stow-on-the-go trekking pole attachments allow you to carry poles on your pack when you're not using them, keeping them out of the way for scrambling and climbing.

Dual front zippered pockets provide easy access storage alongside the large front panel zip that leads into the main compartment.

A front shove-it pocket makes ideal storage for items you may need to access quickly, like a map or compass. Osprey has reinforced this pocket with extra fabric to reduce wear and tear.

Large dual-access stretch mesh pockets are perfect for tucking away bulky water bottles. If you aren't a fan of bottles, there's also an internal hydration reservoir sleeve to mount a water bladder - ideal for on-the-go, hands-free hydration.

Dual upper and lower-side compression straps allow you to cinch in dead space and prevent any contents from rattling inside when the bag isn't fully loaded. There are also dual front panel compression straps with StraightJacket compression.

The zippered hipbelt pockets are perfect for storing snacks and energy gels for long days on the trail. For ice climbers and experienced winter mountaineers, there are dual ice axe loops with bungee tie-offs for extra outer storage, meaning you can safely store your ice axes without risking them digging in or ripping a hole in the pack.

A zippered sleeping bag compartment with a removable divider keeps your bed dry and protected without wasting valuable space in the main compartment. There are also removable sleeping pad straps for attaching a mat without compromising customisation options.
