What is the Deuter Freecline 15 Ski Touring?
The Deuter Freecline 15 is your trusty ski touring backpack, built for alpine adventures. With a snug fit and excellent gear organisation, it's ideal for fast-paced climbs, powder runs, and exploring snowy trails.
What is it made of?
The main fabric is 600D PES REC BS (recycled polyester), which is highly resistant to abrasion and tearing. Polyester fibres are known for their low moisture absorption, making them ideal for outdoor environments with frequent weather changes. The 210D PA RECYCLED (recycled polyamide) fabric further enhances the backpack's durability and is characterised by high elasticity, ensuring the bag remains lightweight yet strong enough for demanding outdoor activities. These fabrics are tear-resistant and highly durable, providing the robustness for ski touring and other rugged outdoor pursuits.
Sourced from Post-Consumer Waste
These materials are sourced from post-consumer and post-industrial waste, significantly reducing the need for virgin resources. By utilising recycled fabrics, Deuter reduces its carbon footprint and helps reduce waste in landfills, supporting a circular economy where products are reused and recycled.
ClimatePartner Certification
The ClimatePartner certification reflects Deuter's efforts to offset CO2 emissions associated with manufacturing and transportation, contributing to environmental protection through targeted climate projects.
Bluesign Certification
The bluesign label ensures that the Deuter Freecline 15 backpack meets strict environmental and safety standards, promoting resource conservation, safe chemical use, water efficiency, and reduced CO2 emissions throughout production.
Green Button Certification
The Green Button certification guarantees that the Freecline 15 is made under strict social and environmental conditions, ensuring compliance with 46 criteria covering aspects like wastewater treatment, chemical use, and fair labour practices.
PFAS-Free Manufacturing
Deuter has eliminated PFAS (harmful chemicals) from the Freecline 15, opting instead for Durable Water Repellency (DWR) to ensure water resistance without compromising health or the environment.
What type of back system is used?
The Freecline 15 has the Deuter Alpine Back System, engineered for mountaineering and alpine terrain. This back system features ergonomic padding that hugs the body, offering a compact, stable fit that helps maintain balance even on steep, uneven ground. Between the padded sections, ventilation channels covered in breathable mesh allow air to flow, keeping your back cooler during intense climbs or long hauls. A flexible spring steel frame at the system's core gives the pack structure and evenly distributes the load across your back and hips, minimising pressure points and enhancing comfort during long treks. The result is a backpack that feels secure and supportive without compromising breathability or freedom of movement—perfect for navigating technical routes or moving fast in the mountains.
What are its features?
Pack's Entry
The entry into this pack is designed with functionality and ease in mind. The round arch opening with a zipper provides quick access to the main compartment, making it simple to retrieve gear without wasting time. The large opening allows for effortless packing and unpacking, a crucial feature for those fast-paced backcountry adventures.
Storage Options
Regarding storage options, the Deuter Freecline 15 stands out for its thoughtful organisation, ensuring every gear has a designated spot for easy access. The zipped front compartment offers quick and convenient storage for items you may need to access on the go. Whether it's a snack, map, or small first-aid kit, this compartment keeps essential items readily available without rummaging through the main pack.
Goggle Pocket
Inside the main compartment, a zippered fleece-lined goggle pocket adds extra protection for your goggles or sunglasses. This soft, cushioned pocket ensures your lenses stay scratch-free and secure while the rest of your gear is stowed away. It's a small detail that makes a big difference when dealing with sensitive equipment on a ski tour or during a climb.
Safety Compartment
Another thoughtful addition is the reinforced safety compartment for avalanche gear, specifically designed to store your shovel blade and handle in a secure and easily accessible spot. Given the importance of these items in backcountry situations, having a dedicated and reinforced space ensures they are protected and quickly accessible when needed most.
Key Clips
For added convenience, the key clip is a small but incredibly useful feature that ensures your keys remain safe and easily reachable. Gone are the days of fishing around the pack for your car or house keys—this dedicated clip keeps them securely in place.
Helmet Holder
The mesh helmet holder, which can be stowed away when not in use, provides a perfect solution for taking your helmet off but still wanting to carry it with you. This holder keeps the helmet secured on the outside of the pack, ensuring it doesn't take up valuable internal space.
Versatile Compression Straps
The Deuter Freecline 15 features both side and front compression straps, which provide ultimate versatility in securing your gear. These straps help stabilise the load and allow you to attach additional equipment like a snowboard or extra layers. Adjusting the fit depending on your load ensures you maintain a compact, balanced pack, no matter what you're carrying. The ski attachment diagonal and snowboard attachment options enhance the pack's flexibility, allowing for a fully customised gear-carrying experience.
