What is the Telemark 1?
Weighing in at only 830g, this superbly lightweight one person tent is the perfect wilderness backpacking companion and because of its roomy interior and practical storage space your creature comforts will not be compromised. Mountain marathoners will think the space is positively palatial after being cramped up in tiny tents in an attempt to reduce weight.
What is it made of?
The flysheet is made from 100% Nylon rip-stop with a double sided silicone impregnation to keep the weight to a minimum. This lightweight fabric provides strength, tear resistance and waterproofing (2000mm hydrostatic head) while the inner tent is made from a lightweight and breathable nylon with mesh panels in the door. Nordisk have used the best quality DAC Featherlite NFL aluminium poles throughout to reduce weight and provide superior strength. You also get 4 high quality triple twister pegs to ensure a secure grounding; even the guy ropes are made from Dyneema to provide strength and low weight. A tough and waterproof (8,000mm hydrostatic head) PU coated Nylon groundsheet provides protection from the wet ground but we always recommend the use of a footprint; they do a brilliant job of protecting your groundsheet from damage from nasty sharp things, stones and other objects. The footprint also provides another layer of waterproofing which is particularly useful when camping in soggy conditions or on snow. Man up and carry the extra weight, it's worth it to prolong the life of your tent.
How is it constructed?
The Telemark is pitched flysheet first with the single pole being inserted quickly into the smooth inverted sleeve, in hot weather you can just use the flysheet as your shelter for a truly minimal camping experience. Small poles are fitted in each corner to create vertical end walls which improves the internal foot and head room. Once the outer is pitched, simply clip in the inner tent, making sure that you work from one side to the other. This pitching method is very quick and ensures the inner stays dry in wet conditions. If you are moving from site to site you can leave the inner attached and pitch the Telemark as one. Once you get inside the light and airy interior adds to the sense of space and the large front entrance provides easy access and a full panoramic view. To create a sheltered porch area you can remove three of the corner poles to make one long pole to support the open door, you'll need the additional guy rope and another peg to support the pole. With practice you can get this fantastic tent erected in about 4 minutes!
What are the features?
As well as the multitude of features listed above, you get an inner pocket which doubles up as an integrated stuffsack, Cordura pole pockets for added durability, a clever arch construction on the lower of the flysheet which channels air into the sleeping area for maximum ventilation, an outer door which can be converted into a canopy for extra space to cook or get changed and a small porch for storing kit. One of the most unique features of the Telemark is its ability to change the size of the cabin. If you require more sleeping space, simply pull a toggle underneath the inner door towards the outer door; if you require more porch space, do the opposite!
