What are the Alti Mitts?
The Alti Mitts are designed for some of the most extreme conditions the world has to offer. 8000 metre peaks and arctic expeditions are all in a days work for these workhorse mitts.
What are they made from?
Starting from the outside and making our way in, the Alti's feature a tough 40D ripstop nylon outer fabric to deal with the majority of the abuse, and a Pittards leather palm for added grip and dexterity when handling tools; all of these fabrics are stitched together using Kevlar for added reliability. A Gore-Tex membrane underneath offers complete waterproofing, while a highloft Moonlite Pile fleece and PrimaLoft gold insulation keep your hands toasty warm in the coldest temperatures known to man. If you aren't using the mitts in such extreme conditions and simply suffer with cold hands, the insulated liner inside the mitt is removeable. These mitts feature 170g of insulation in the shell and 340g in the liner, therefore removing the liner won't completely rid you of insulation.
What are the features?
Features wise, you get a removable leash, a heat pack pocket for added warmth, a pull-on loop, a glove clip and carabiner loop when not in use, an elasticated wrist, a pre-curved construction and a three panel thumb for a greater fit and reduced chance of cold spots.
Summary
Highly durable, adaptable, exceptionally warm and designed for the worst conditions in the world, these really are the pinnacle of cold weather/high altitude mitts.
