What is Icarus Vest?
Offering warmth for all conditions, this lightweight synthetic vest is exceptionally versatile. You're able to wear it as a technical, super warm mid-layer or as a protective outer layer in less severe conditions.
What is it made of?
Insulation: Taking care of the insulation inside the Icarus is 105g of Primaloft Black Thermoplume made from 100% recycled materials. This excellent insulation from Primaloft is a jump forward in terms of synthetic insulation. Thermoplume Black Insulation offers the same thermal properties as 550FP down by using tiny silky tufts of synthetic fibers. In addition, thanks to the specific blend of water-resistant Primaloft fibers, it can deliver exceptional loft even in wet conditions.
Outer fabric: Surrounding this superb insulation is a Pertex Quantum Eco outer fabric that offers high levels of breathability and weather resistance with an added DWR to help shed light rain and is made from 50% recycled materials.
Inner fabric: Using 100% recycled PEAQ Synthetic ECO lining, the Icarus is more friendly to the planet than ever before! Plus, it is super smooth for easy layering.
So, all in all, it is a warm, packable jacket that is also a more sustainable choice for the environment!
What are the features?
Starting from the top, the high collar in the Icarus helps protect your neck for chilly drafts. The armholes have a light elastication, helping them to fit snug around the top of your arms without being restrictive. Pockets wise, you get two hand pockets to stash your phone, compass or a packet of jelly babies. Lastly, an adjustable hem to keep the cold out.
How does it fit?
The Icarus features a regular fit which should suit most users. There's plenty of room in the chest, while the length is about average. If sized correctly, there's enough room for layers underneath.
Where does it fit in the layering system?
The Icarus vest is an incredibly versatile layer. Wear it over a top on the warmer days, over a fleece midlayer for a more breathable option than a full insulated jacket when you’re out hiking, or over the top of a soft/hard shell jacket to protect your core heat when you stop for lunch.
