What is the R1 Hybrid Vest?
The R1 Hybrid Vest is a fleece gilet made with a hybrid construction to enhance temperature regulation and comfort. It provides ample stretch and breathability for demanding adventures yet has a low-profile design for maximum versatility.
What is it made of?
Patagonia constructed this gilet using different weights of breathable Polartec® Power Grid® fleece and Capilene® Thermal Weight Baselayer material with built-in HeiQ Pure odour control technology.
Polartec Power Grid® fleece comprises polyester and spandex to deliver premium stretch and softness. This material uses a unique, bi-component patented knit that strengthens performance efficiency by increasing both warmth and breathability. The knit uses geometric patterns that help improve packability and moisture-wicking performance, helping to avoid sweat or condensation build-up if you're working hard.
The Capilene® Thermal Weight Baselayer material provides exceptional warmth and breathability with virtually no bulk, allowing for enhanced mobility and easier layering over this vest.
HeiQ® Pure odour neutralising technology uses non-ionic, silver-based, antimicrobial odour control and achieves a high antimicrobial efficacy from a low dosage. It allows you to benefit from all the technical material performance without spoiling the fresh mountain air. Plus, it means you can get away with washing this gilet less, meaning not only do you have less laundry to do, but you'll save more water, too!
This product is also made in a Fair Trade Factory™, giving Patagonia more control of the operations in the factories they choose to work with. Patagonia proudly offers more Fair Trade styles than any other apparel brand in the current market. But how does it work? Patagonia pays a premium for every item made in one of these factories, and this money goes directly to the factory workers. A democratically elected committee of Fair Trade workers will decide how this extra money gets spent in each Fair Trade factory. The program also promotes worker health and safety, and social and environmental compliance, while encouraging healthier dialogue between workers and management.

Subtle shoulder seams deliver chafe-free comfort underneath backpacks or layering systems.
For storage, you get a zipped left chest pocket with a mesh pocket bag, which helps draw in extra airflow for additional breathability.
The gilet comes with a slim fit and a low-profile hem for easier layering over the top. It features a centre-front zipper and a low-profile zipper garage at the chin, which prevents the fastening from pinching the skin.
