What are the Odyssey Pants?

The Odyssey Pants are lightweight and durable waterproof trousers that provide ample protection for adventures such as hill walking, hiking, and trekking. They're the ideal all-round trousers for general outdoor use in the UK.

What are they made of?

These trousers are made with recycled three-layer Drilite® 50D fabric, which has a 75% recycled membrane to help reduce its environmental impact and a fluorocarbon-free DWR (durable water repellent).

Can't quite catch the lingo? Here's a quick breakdown...

Drilite® - Waterproof Drilite® fabric features a hydrophilic, monolithic polyurethane membrane that provides the ultimate wet weather protection whilst remaining lightweight and flexible. It combines years worth of knowledge and experience gathered by Mountain Equipment to provide optimum performance for mountain use, whether trekking, scrambling, or alpine hiking.

Fluorocarbon-free - Fluorocarbons, also known as PFCs, are chemical compounds initially used in DWRs. These compounds can't break down, so once they reach nature via water waste from factories, they stay in the environment and contaminate living organisms, working their way up the food chain. Fluorocarbons are suspected carcinogens and have been known to affect reproduction and hormone production in mammals. Therefore, many leading brands in the outdoor industry are prioritising cutting out the use of these chemicals entirely to contribute to a greener manufacturing process.

DWR—Durable water repellent encourages water to bead off the material instead of soaking in. This helps to enhance and maintain the breathability of the trousers, as moisture that builds up within (usually from sweat) can escape through the material. Once it wets out, the material can, in simple terms, get blocked so that this moisture has nowhere to escape, making the trousers feel damp inside.

What are their features?

These trousers are made with an Active fit and articulated knees that allow more mobility around the joints.

A gusseted crotch enhances freedom of movement and helps to take pressure away from vital seams, helping to prevent any split trouser moments mid-adventure!

They come with an elasticated waistband and drawcord, which make them easy to slip on or take off over longjohns or slim trousers and chunky boots.

3/4 length, two-way zips on each leg provide ventilation and make it easier to slip the trousers on quickly when the rain starts to pour. They have an internal flap to help prevent any wet weather or snow from creeping in when the vents are open.

An adjustable hem on the bottom of the leg allows you to cinch the material in close, sealing out any weather, wet mud, or debris.
