What are they made of?
The main fabric is a Flex1 softshell material that weighs 199 grams per square meter. This material is selected for its excellent freedom of movement, durability, wind resistance, high breathability, and effective moisture management. This combination makes the pants suitable for year-round use and ensures they perform well in various weather conditions.
The pants are made with two different types of Flex1 materials. The primary fabric used for most of the pants is a 90D Flex1 four-way stretch fabric made from recycled nylon. The "90D" indicates that the fabric is lightweight yet strong, with fibres that stretch in all directions, providing excellent freedom of movement. The double-weave design enhances the fabric's durability, making it resilient against wear and tear.
For added protection in high-wear areas, such as from the thighs down and on the buttocks, Norrona used a tougher version of the Flex1 fabric. It is also made from recycled nylon, providing extra strength and protection where it is most needed.
Both types of Flex1 materials are treated with a PFC-free DWR (Durable Water-repellent) finish, which makes them resistant to water and helps keep you dry in wet weather conditions.
Additionally, the materials used in these pants are Oeko-Tex and Blue-sign certified. While both certifications aim to make textile products safer and lessen environmental impact, Oeko-Tex is primarily concerned with the safety of the final product for consumers, ensuring it is free from harmful substances.
