What are the Quandary Pants?
The Quandary Pants are versatile outdoor trousers designed for various activities and outdoor lifestyles. Whether hiking, scrambling, or going about your daily business, these functional trousers provide ample comfort and durability all year round.
What are they made of?
These trousers are made using a combination of NetPlus® and spandex plain weave, which gives them some extra stretch.
NetPlus® is Bureo's signature material. It's made from post-consumer recycled fishing nets, meaning it helps reduce one of the most harmful forms of ocean plastic pollution while still empowering fishing communities worldwide. The material is fully traceable and created in partnership with fishermen and women to provide a more circular solution for end-of-life nets, reducing the amount of plastic entering the ocean and making the most of what is otherwise an incredibly precious resource and usable material.
Surprisingly, the material also offers UPF 40+ sun protection, which is ideal for exploring exposed environments where shade and shelter are limited.
Materials are treated with a PFC/PFAS-free DWR (durable water repellent). PFC-free means perfluorinated chemical-free. Perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs), commonly used to add water repellent to textiles, are also known as forever chemicals and cause environmental harm, similar to PFAS.
PFAS means per- or poly-fluorinated alkyl; these are a group of industrial chemicals that also cause detrimental harm to the environment, often through product and garment manufacture.
These chemicals can't break down, so once they reach nature (usually via factory water waste), they stay in the ecosystem and contaminate living organisms, working their way up the food chain. PFAS and PFCs are suspected carcinogens and have been known to affect mammal reproduction and hormone production. Therefore, many leading brands in the outdoor industry are now prioritising cutting out the use of these chemicals entirely to contribute to a more responsible manufacturing process.
The fabric is also bluesign® approved, meaning it's manufactured in a way that is safe for the environment, workers and consumers. bluesign® certifications ensure that the materials used avoid harmful substances, use reduced air and water emissions, increase resource productivity, and the production line is more transparent and trustworthy.
What are the features?
The waistband is curved to contour to the natural hip shape and is made with a regular rise. A slimmer fit encourages the trousers to sit closer to the body without being too tight in the seat or thighs. The knee-to-ankle cut provides better freedom of movement, and the sizing overall is best suited to lean or medium builds.
Belt loops, a zip fly, and a metal button close make for easy access, whilst an adjustable drawcord that you can wear externally or internally allows you to achieve a more precise fit.
A roll-up cord and button fastening on each pant leg boosts versatility for various activities and adventures.
Articulation behind the knees allows for a complete range of motion, making high stepping and dynamic moves a breeze, ideal for scrambling.
Two front drop-in pockets provide storage for small essentials. The left-front pocket also contains a built-in repair patch, meaning you can fix up on the go if your clothing gets snagged or torn. You also get two rear pockets (one zipped), and one right-thigh zipped pocket for extra storage.
A reinforced carabiner loop on the front right pocket allows you to clip and attach accessories or essentials.
