What are the Latok GTX Pants?
These trousers are a staple winter hardshell, versatile enough to accommodate a range of activities from hiking to mountaineering. Thanks to the use of Gore-Tex® Pro Most Breathable, the Latok GTX Pants offer durable waterproof protection and breathability. They are sure to keep you comfortable during intense sessions and are robust enough to take a beating against rock, ice and rugged mountain terrain.
What are they made of?
Like much of the updated Latok collection, these trousers are constructed using 80D recycled Gore-Tex® Pro with Most Breathable technology and Gore DWR. Bit of a mouthful, right?
Basically, it's a three layer fabric with added durability, breathability and an extra DWR (Durable Water Repellent), designed to withstand abrasion in the toughest terrain. It offers maximum waterproof and windproof protection whilst still being extremely breathable. Thanks to its versatility, it's perfect for mountain use! This material can keep you comfortable in changeable environments whilst minimising the accumulation of sweat, keeping you cool during high output activity.
The material has an impressive Hydrostatic Head rating of 28,000mm, meaning it's really effective at keeping you dry. Generally, Gore-Tex® products go up to a HH rating of 30,000mm, so this is at the top end of their scale!
Gore-Tex® Pro seam taping is used on the inside of the trousers to ensure that no water can seep inside through the stitching. The seam tape lines each seam without adding a lot of bulk or weight - it's unnoticeable once you put them on but makes a huge difference to how protective they are in wet weather!
What are their features?
At the waist, a dual sided hook and loop adjustment system makes it really easy to optimise the fit of these trousers, and offers an extensive range of adjustment sizes to get it perfectly right. The deep tricot lined waistband feels comfortable next to the skin. It has belt loops if you want some extra security and brace attachment points if you're kitting out for a bigger mission.
The front zip fly features a YKK® AquaGuard zip - a taped zip that helps to keep water from seeping through the entry.
At the side of each leg is a 7/8th length, two way zipper with an internal storm guard and triple pullers. Side zips are fantastic for increasing ventilation, so if you're working up a sweat in the mountains, slide these open and embrace that fresh breeze to cool yourself down.
The knees are articulated, providing a little extra room in vital areas, making those steep ascents feel that little bit easier.
Two external pockets are strategically placed for easy access, and are again fastened with YKK® AquaGuard zips. They offer plenty of room for hill-snacks, energy gels, a GPS or mobile phone.
At the hem, you'll find a snap adjuster which can adapt the fit around the ankles to accomodate different sizes and types of hiking or mountaineering boots. They come complete with an internal snow gaiter, excellent for battling gnarly winter conditions. The hems are reinforced with tough crampon patches to reduce the risk of snagging if you catch a crampon on the material as you're moving.
How do they fit?
These trousers come in a regular women's fit, leaving you with the option to layer underneath in the winter for extra warmth.
