What are the Latok GTX Pants?
They're versatile and robust waterproof trousers, built for reliable protection in challenging mountain environments. This updated version is built with the latest Gore-Tex Pro ePE waterproof technology and Spectra® ripstop kick patches for enhanced performance and durability.
What are they made from?
Rab has built the trousers’ from robust 80 denier 3-layer GORE-TEX Pro ePE with PFC-Free DWR with Spectra® ripstop reinforced cramp on patches and integrated Matrix™ stretch back to deliver a balance of protection, durability and comfort.
The trousers' 3-layer construction comprises a tough 80 denier face fabric made from recycled polyamide (nylon), a GORE-TEX Pro ePE waterproof and windproof membrane and a smooth polyamide lining.
The 80 denier face fabric is reassuringly robust, yet it's not too heavy or uncomfortable to hold you back. It's thick enough to deal with demanding climbs, scrambles and hikes in rocky terrain where it's likely to take a beating.
GORE-TEX Pro ePE is the most rugged, durable and breathable membrane, designed to withstand abrasion in the toughest terrain. It offers maximum waterproof and windproof protection whilst still being extremely breathable. Thanks to its versatility, it's perfect for mountain use and will keep you comfortable in changeable environments whilst minimising the accumulation of sweat, keeping you cool during high output activity. It has an exceptional Hydrostatic Head rating of 28,000mm to reliably shield you from wet weather in challenging mountain environments.
This latest Gore-Tex® ePE technology is made using recycled fabrics and without the use of PFAS/PFC chemicals for a significantly reduced environmental impact. If you were wondering, PFAS/PFCs are per or poly-fluorinated chemicals, aka 'forever chemicals' that stay permanently in the environment and cause lasting damage to our ecosystems. This is why many companies are working towards a completely PFC-free future, and this latest membrane from Gore-Tex® is a big step forward for the brand.
The trousers are finished with a PFC-Free DWR (durable water repellent) coating to encourage rain, snow and mud to bead off the trousers instead of soaking in, helping to keep the waterproof membrane clean, protected and in tip-top shape.
The Spectra® ripstop reinforced cramp on patches use a super tough grid of polyethylene fibres woven into a solid yet lightweight Cordura fabric. The fibres have a high molecular weight, making them 15 times stronger than steel and bullet-resistant materials! It's complete with a high UV resistance to help prevent any sun damage or deterioration when used regularly on exposed routes. This technology brings a whole new level to technical fabrics, creating something incredibly abrasion, UV and water resistant while extremely lightweight.
What are their features?
The trousers feature a soft, deep tricot-lined waistband for lasting comfort and moisture regulation. A functional YKK® AquaGuard® front fly zip helps keep the elements out while providing quick access when nature calls.
Dual-sided hook and loop adjustment helps easily optimise the fit around the waist, allowing you to layer up and down without feeling restricted or uncomfortable. Belt loops and brace attachment points give you the flexibility, should you wish to further secure the trousers for more gnarly adventures.
Each side features a full-length YKK® AquaGuard ® zip for easy on-and-offs over various chunky footwear. The internal storm guard and AquaGuard zips help prevent water from seeping through the fastenings when fully closed.
The knees are articulated to provide a more natural shape and a little extra room in vital areas to prevent you from splitting the trousers on steep ascents.
At the hem, you'll find a snap adjuster which can adapt the fit around the ankles to accommodate different sizes and types of hiking or mountaineering boots. An internal snow gaiter prevents your boots from filling up with snow in gnarly winter conditions. The lower hems are reinforced with super tough Spectra® ripstop crampon patches to reduce the risk of snagging if you catch a crampon on the material as you're moving.
Finally, the trousers feature Rab's regular fit, which offers enough room to layer underneath, without being too big and bulky.
