What are the Torque Pants?
They're versatile, durable and comfortable softshell trousers that give you the freedom to perform at your best for a wide range of mountain pursuits across the seasons.
What are they made from?
The Torque Pants are created from Matrix™ two-layer bonded softshell fabric with super tough nylon reinforcements in high wear areas.
Matrix™ is a specialised line of softshell fabrics selected by Rab for their unique performance qualities. Matrix™ two-layer is a soft and stretchy double-weave fabric soft shell fabric that is wind-resistant and offers UPF protection to shield you from sun exposure. It provides good protection from the elements without hindering your range of movement. The fabric also breathes exceptionally well to keep you feeling comfortable while working hard.
Rab has used super tough double-weave nylon fabric panels to reinforce high-wear areas such as the knees, thigh and instep. This highly durable material is still comfortable and flexible, whilst offering tear-resistant protection for use in rugged mountain environments when the trousers are likely to take a beating from rock.
The trousers are finished with a fluorocarbon-free durable water repellent (DWR). This coating allows water to bead off the material rather than soaking in, providing protection against light rain showers, but please note it doesn't make the material waterproof. Using a fluorocarbon-free treatment is more responsible than conventional treatments because they don't use forever chemicals harmful to our ecosystems.
What are their features?
The trousers feature a soft, part-elasticated waistband with a half-adjustable drawcord for the ideal balance of comfort for bending down or stretching and security that they won't start to slip down as you get moving.
For storage, there are two mesh-lined zipped hand pockets and one zippered thigh pocket, perfect for tucking away small essentials like a mobile phone, GPS, energy gels or snack bars. The hand pockets double as ventilation zips should you start to get a bit warm or work up a sweat; simply open the pockets and let the trousers breathe to cool you down.
Articulated knees and gussets relieve pressure on vital seams and provide better freedom of movement around the joints. They also help to prevent any embarrassing trouser-splitting incidents when stepping up high.
Reinforcements across the knees, thighs and instep provide added durability in high-wear areas, helping these trousers withstand years of use in the mountains without looking shabby after your first trip.
The Torque Pants feature Rab's 'regular' fit, meaning they sit close enough to the leg not to get in the way when sighting your foot for more technical placements, yet still have enough space for a pair of long johns underneath during winter.
Finally, at the bottom of each leg, you'll find a YKK® zip and self-fabric gusset that allows the trousers to accommodate various footwear, including chunky boots.
