What are the Stensdalen Pants?
They’re durable outdoor trousers designed to deliver light protection and durability in rugged terrain, whether hiking, scrambling, or doing bushcraft.
What are they made of?
These trousers use a plain weave cotton blend that comprises organic cotton and recycled polyester. This blend provides a better, more environmentally conscious alternative to conventional materials with compromise, ensuring that these trousers are still able to endure regular adventures and wear.
The material is treated with a PFC-free DWR (durable water repellent) to enhance water resistance by encouraging water and snow to bead off the material instead of soaking in. However, this does not make the trousers fully waterproof.
Using a PFC-free DWR increases environmental responsibility by avoiding the use of harmful forever chemicals within the water repellent, which cause permanent damage to our ecosystems when released via wastewater.
Reinforcement patches on these trousers are made with a plain weave Cordura BCI Cotton Mix which comprises Cordura and BCI and GOTS-certified organic cotton.
Cordura is renowned for being incredibly strong and long-lasting, increasing overall longevity of these trousers.
The GOTS is a world-leading standard for processing textiles from natural organically produced fibres, meaning it serves the usual purpose with a lesser impact on the environment.
BCI Cotton meets the BCI standard of organic cotton. The Better Cotton Initiative is a world-leading responsibility initiative for cotton. It works to help communities centred around cotton farming to survive and thrive whilst contributing to the protection and restoration of our environment. How do they do this? There are many targets and objectives set by the BCI each year to help them reach their end goal; for example, aiming to embed eco-conscious cotton farming practices and policies, enhancing the well-being and economic development of cotton farmers, workers and communities that rely on cotton production as a primary source of income, and driving global demand for responsibly produced cotton. That's just to name a few! After a decade of operation, over a fifth of the world's cotton is now being made under the Better Cotton standard - a number that will hopefully grow over the years to come.
