AKU Mens Spider Light II GTX

The Spider Light 2 GTX is a strong stiff B2/B3 boot that will accept semi-automatic crampons for mixed winter climbing and mountaineering. This versatile boot is cleverly constructed with amazing technologies to provide a strong stable and comfortable boot with minimal weight.  The IMS 2 system allows the midsole to perfectly capture the anatomy of your foot, ensuring a uniform distribution of pressure, preventing lateral and frontal movement under heavy use. A layer of EVA foam on top of the midsole provides instant comfort and enhances support. A thicker microporous layer of EVA beneath the midsole provides sensitivity, precision and cushioning to ensure a precise under foot feel and increased traction on uneven terrain.  PU inserts under the heel take care of heel strike impact forces especially when carrying heavier loads and when descending.

The uppers are made from a tough nylon fabric bonded to a Gore-Tex membrane using the amazing AIR 8000 technology.  Basically AIR 8000 bonds the materials together whilst still allowing maximum breathability; it has been tested to breathe 11 times better than traditionally constructed fabric boots.  To enhance stability and protection on the uppers without comprising the light weight and supple feel of the boots, AKU use a bonded Exoskeleton.  This Exoskeleton is a PU webbing which strengthens and supports the uppers without adding unnecessary weight.

Under foot security is provided by the masters of sole units, Vibram.  The Vibram Mulaz unit provides versatile grip on a variety of terrain but is best suited to mixed rock and scrambling routes where the broad supportive climb zone at the toe really comes into its own.  An aggressive heel brake and 360 degree helical tread is especially effective when ascending and descending.
