What is the Kubo?
The Kubo Climbing Shoes are indoor-specific shoes that deliver comfort and versatility for various levels of climbers. They're suitable for lead and bouldering disciplines and feature a lightly downturned sole for extra precision.
How are they constructed?
The Kubo has an unlined microfibre upper with a suede calf insole for enhanced comfort and a fit that will mould to your foot. The microfibre upper has the advantage of offering minimal stretch, making sizing easier. The shoe uses Vibram's fantastic XS Edge rubber. XS Edge rubber has been designed for maximum support, allowing you to focus your weight on the tiniest holds, making it the ideal choice for an indoor bouldering and lead climbing shoe. The shoe's overall construction has been made with resoling in mind, so you can keep them going for much longer.
The rubber tech doesn't stop at the sole. The toe cap has been integrated into the toe edge and extends fully over the toes, making those all-important toe hooks extra grippy. The heel has also been integrated into the sole for better grip and protection while maintaining sensitivity and elasticity.
La Sportiva has also included their excellent P3 System. This patented system leaves the climbing shoe's arched shape unaltered without compromising its original performance and push power, even after years of hard use.
What are the features?
The Kubo uses opposing hook and loop fastening straps for a fast and precise closure, it also results in an even distribution of pressure over the top of the foot that should make the Kubo more comfortable. Twin loops at the heel act as both hanging loops when the shoes are not in use, but more importantly make getting the shoes on much easier.
How do they fit?
They are built around a medium fit, tending to be slightly wider over the instep than some other climbing shoes. The shoe's softness and sensitivity lend themselves well to a comfortable conforming fit, making them great for longer gym sessions.
